We were considering trying the Trail's end restaurant dinner buffet for our arrival day. Is it worth the trip? Will be staying at the WL so we thought we would try it. Thanks:goodvibes

Shhh.....don't tell anyone ;)

It's one of my favorites. I too am planning it for my first night.

Awful. It was the worst meal we had last year. The food is blander than hospital food. The buffet is a tiny section, if you call it one. We didn't even go back for seconds of maybe the 9 items offered. yes, it is cheap but think about goodness. It lacks that for sure. It is fun to go over tot the Ft area, but if you want some taste you might want to miss this one. Really. We like normal foods, but this is jut not worth the trip unless seasonings to your food is not an issue.

We haven't been there in many years, but are also going for our first night's dinner. Since it is a buffet and there are ribs on the buffet, the men in the family are thrilled. :woohoo: I'll stick with soup/salad and will be more than fine. We wanted to head to somewhere "easy" on our first night and since we'll be at BLT, it is a easy boat ride to FW.

This is the only sit down/buffet restaurant that we ate at on our last trip in 2007. It was my third time there (2003, 2004-lunch, and 2007). My family likes it, and one of my sons is very picky. I'm also a bit thrifty, so I have a hard time paying for the table service restaurants because I don't feel like they're that much better to justify the extra money(Just my opinion, folks. Please put the daggers away!!). I have always felt that Trail's End is worth it, plus you can walk around the grounds a little bit at Fort Wilderness. On our first visit there, the kids got to pet the goats and we followed a peacock around for awhile.

That being said, I must add that I was not quite as impressed in 2007. It seemed like there were not as many food choices, and our service was horrible! I think we just had bad luck that time! I'm sure we'll try it again when we go back in summer 2010.

Its a year since we have been there, but we did really enjoy it and would recommend it as a change of pace from the parks! There are some pictures of the food in my Gluttony food report (link in signature!)

The WDW Today podcast always speaks highly of it. They've convinced me to try it in October.

The real reason i would like to try it is for the fried chicken which everyone raves about. Plus they have ribs which my little daughter loves. There seems to be no place in WDW but the 50's prime time cafe that serves fried chicken which is unbelievable and its a good option outside the parks. I think i am going to try it for our last night. I like to really splurge on good comfort foods on our last meal.

I enjoyed it last Christmas, and I would certainly return again.

Thanks for all of your opinions. I think we will give it a try. If nothing else the kids will have fun at the petting zoo and I think they have pony rides also. Thanks!

We like it besides it gives us an excuse to go to Fort Wilderness which I personally LOVE to visit. Sounds like fun!

They do have pony rides, but I don't believe they have a petting zoo anymore. I think that closed down when they opened one at AK. You could go on the camping board to make sure.

We ate there in Dec 07. The service was great and the food was very good. It is now on my must eat there list for everytime I go. Best place on property for Iced Tea.

Just returned last week and we ate here on our first night. It was one of the best buffets that we experienced all week. We arrived as soon as they opened so everything was fresh. There was a nice selection and the salad bar was very good. I was happy I we went. Would go back again

We've eaten breakfast here a few times, years ago. It's been about 5 years since we've been here. We loved breakfast!! The food was always very good, and the prices (for Disney standards anyway) were very reasonable!
