Trail's End question?

I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge and was thinking about trying the Trails End Buffet. Is it a must to have adr's for this place? Which should I try, breakfast or dinner?

This is a great meal choice, we susually do dinner and have done it with and without ADRs - it really depends on ow full the campground is. I think more people now do the buffet, it used to be nice to sit in the lounge and wait for a table, now seating goes through the loung, too, when things are very busy.

We just had lunch there...took the boat from Magic Kingdom. No wait and no crowds. Food was great...fried chicken, ribs, mac and cheese. pizza, pasta, cold cuts, chili, soup, pulled pork, cornbread, biscuits, muffins and more....It was a great break from the parks and you can't beat the price!!!

Breakfast and dinner are both great. You'll enjoy it no matter which you choose. As for the ADR, depends on how crowded the campground is. If it's during free dining, I'd call and try to get the ADR.

We stayed at a Fort Wilderness cabin last June, and decided to have dinner at Trail's End after we checked in. They were really nice, and we hardly had a wait, but I would have the ADR just to be sure! It was a great dinner!

Just a note here......Trails End is at Fort Wilderness. I see you're staying at WL. But you may already know that.

We tried it for the first time last month and loved it! We did dinner and went over to FW a little earlier and looked around.

What is the easiest way to get there? We will have a rental car and it would be the 2nd week in December; so it will be dark early (that's why I mentioned that :) ). If I remember right, you cannot take your vehicle down into the Ft. Wilderness area, but I don't know where the Trail's End restaurant is located from the main "check-in/lobby".

Or I guess we could go for lunch after a MK morning visit. Just take the boat over to Ft. Wilderness, eat and then return by boat? :confused3

TIA

Trail's End is kind of a forgotten spot so it ADR's are not always critical. It is a little out of the way if you are not staying at FW so it is not as crowded and some people do not like the food. We ate there for both breakfast and dinner and enjoyed both.

Trail's End is near the marina at FW and as you said you cannot drive your car there. You will have to park it at the lot at the entrance to FW campground then take an internal bus to the restaurant. If you are staying onsite you may also consider catching a launch from either MK, CR or WL that will take you to FW. Trail's End is close to the boat dock. Lunch would be a good time to go also. It breaks up the day and yes, you can take a launch from outside the MK entrance to FW (also stops at CR and WL).

This is exactly what we plan on doing, the lunch. Was there any desserts with that, like the yummy strawberry shortcake they have from hoop de doo next door?

Looking forward to lunch at Trail's End in December! We plan on renting the water mice (ooops, they have a new name now don't they?) for a zip around the lake that afternoon (weather permitting)! It's a nice break from the parks and crowds. :thumbsup2

I know most are saying that adrs aren't a must, but for some reason that has never been the case when we've eaten there. It was always completely full whenever we ever ate there for dinner, there was always a line full of unhappy people waiting when we went up to the podium. We always had adrs, but many people were told over an hour. I would make the reservation, it's just one less thing to worry about

We enjoy breakfast there more than dinner. And I would get an ADR, just to be on the safe side. You can take the boat from WL to FW, about a 7 min. ride. Trails End is real close to the dock area, maybe a 2 min walk.

anybody know the answer to this?

You know, I have absolutely no recollection of the desserts! And that's unusual for me. I think I was to busy/full from chowing down on fried chicken!
