Trails End Buffett

Sounds weird, but the pizza from TE is much better if you have them cook it "well done" - ok so much better than "yuk" but still better. ;)

Anyone else miss the old Crocketts Tavern?

I do! It was a nice place to chill after a long day and grab a light meal. We particularly enjoyed their chicken wings and pizza by the slice - also the chicken planks. I also miss when Crockett's was a full service restaurant. You could get anything from steak to lobster, and it was GREAT! The pizza that was served at Crockett's was verrrrrry different from the take out pizza.

We have only gotten pizza to go twice in the 30+ years we've been going to the Fort. Crappy doesn't even begin to describe it. I stick with the fried chicken if I want a "to-go" item.

I also miss the take out breakfast option they used to offer. I'm not one to get myself going early in the morning when I'm at the Fort, and I used to love going to Trail's End, getting some take out containers, filling them up and heading back to the RV. I didn't feel bad about not showering and getting "gussied up" for breakfast. I would have gladly paid more $$ for the breakfast to go option, but instead of upping the price, they discontinued it completely. I know a lot of people took serious liberty filling the containers with enough food to feed a family of 4, while only paying for one person's breakfast. If someone had had some smarts, they would have charged a price per container and kept the take out breakfast option in tact.

JMHO :rolleyes1

We haven't tried Trail's End since so many people here said it really wasn't worth it. We did try the Giddyap and Go and it was FANTASTIC!.

We also ate at the snackbar at the pool (Meadows Snack Bar maybe?) and really enjoyed it. The BBQ flat bread sandwich, cole slaw, and home made chips were so good-we had it 3 days in a row for lunch

I remember getting an invite for some Mickey waffles but they were gone or something. I'm not gonna believe this story until I've seen them on my plate.

Your daughter told me that your waffles were really tasty along with hers!

I had breakfast there during the 4th of July weekend. It tasted pretty good at 40% off. I know, that's cruel. So join me next time I'm there.

We had breakfast last week. I was not impressed with the cost. For the cost of two buffets, we enjoyed made to order meals at the Poly with a coffee press of Kona.
I took my hubby so he could see what we enjoyed years ago annually. He agrees that the prize is to high for the offerings.

Woohoo Magic bus is buying us all breakfast!
You know how there are a couple of "ignore this" threads, I'm ignoring wak648's post.
Clarification, join me for breakfast that I'm getting you 40% off but you're paying.
I'd like to buy you all breakfast, but even with 40% off, it just brings it down to what you'd pay off property. Besides, you mistook me for a nice guy.

When I worked for Disney a group of us would go back to our lockers and change so we could eat at Trails End the food was really at good now. I don’t see myself every eating there again. But I will still get the Giddyap and Go

For the most part, it is the seasoned Disney diner who got to experience the food at Disney restaurants being fun, good food with great menu's and then turn into less desirable eating establishments,,the Trails End being one of those.
The seasoned diner are the ones you read complaining about the food at Trails End.
People who are new at try'n the Disney restaurants (Trails End) only experience the "NOW" and there fore think the foods are wonderful.

At one time Disney had some of the very best and finest foods I have ever eat'n,,
those days are LONG gone.

just my opinion.

Amen !!

We have gotten to where we usually just do a lunch there, since it is more reasonable than supper. It definately has had a drop in quality & variety, but all of WDW has suffered that.

One thing I will give Trails End is they still had a good salad bar last time we went in for dinner. Not sure if anyone likes just the salad bar only but you can get that by itself and at dinner the boiled shrimp is included in that.

I still like the Geddy Yap sp? as it's good food and value.

Thank you Donnie I didn’t and I bet others didn’t know you could just get salad bar. Why didn’t you tell me this last time we where there?

I didn't realize that about the salad bar, everytime we had dinner there, I was so full after the salad bar, that I hardly eat. I am not a big buffet eater because I never get my money worth. Now Richie is another story!!!

We ate the Trails End buffet for lunch this trip and enjoyed it. The fried chicken was great (same kitchen for Giddy Up N Go and the HDDR). There was a mixed greens salad with strawberries and dried cranberries that was wonderful! Yes I do agree there should be more items offered, but for lunch we were happy with what we ate.
Our waitress was great and she remarked on how much she misses Muscket Mickey!
There is nothing stopping you from looking at the buffet before you commit.

my 2 cents....

I went on ebay and found an old Mickey Waffle Maker. It solved my problem of going to Trails End for breakfast. Now that it is stored in the trailer, it has become a tradition for me to make waffles for all the kids (Ms. Gus's, Stacktester's, The Miller's, etc) during our stay in the summer. I doubt it will change next year.

Neat! We have one that a friend gave us last year. It's one of the old ones, and it just makes one big mickey waffle at a time. I'm horrible at waffle making, but DH is really good at it.

I didn't know that about the salad bar...

Does anyone know how much just the salad bar costs? On allears.net, it just says "Soup and Salad Bar Only Available".

I assume that means soup is included with the salad bar?

We eat breakfast there pretty regularly when we go to the Fort. Rick LOVES to sleep in, and Rick LOVES a big breakfast, but most places on property quit serving breakfast about 10:45, so sometimes we just don't get out the door in time to eat breakfast elsewhere. Trails End serves breakfast till about 11:30, so that fits our schedule pretty well.

Eh.....I don't think it's worth it. There are other buffet's at WDW that are much better, such as O'Hana's (not a buffet per se, but AYCE dinner and very good), Cape May, Boma's, The Crystal Palace, just to name a few.

Trail's End is mediocre, at best. Now, the Giddy Up and Go Chicken take out dinner is worth every cent!! :thumbsup2

You are correct there are others but the experance and the food is great at Trails"s End hands down.

Gastronomically speaking, Boma is interesting, and Crystal Palace is my favorite buffet, but Cape May left me disappointed. Certainly not worth the effort to go to YC/BC just for dinner. If I were at EPCOT, there are better choices, particularly if I'm dropping that much dinero on dinero.

If you're at FW, don't feel like cooking, Trail's End is still a good place to go. I suppose the days of the Grandmas in the back whipping up some vittles from scratch are long gone, but the chicken ain't bad.
