We want to try Trails end for breakfast next trip. Right now the earliest adr is 9:20. Is it possible just to show up Day of with no adr and get served earlier?

Depends what time of year you're going. We go in mid to late August & yes we could show up early & get in. I can't speak to the busier times of the year though :)

Instead of trying to walk up I'd try for a day of or day before ADR to see if you can get a time that is more conducive to your schedule. We've only eaten here once and had no problem getting a reservation the morning of, but that was in the slower September season

If you are staying at the Fort I would say try to walk up and see if you can get in. If they can't take you you can always buy some cereal and yogurt at the trading post or hop a boat to another resort or park to eat. If you are staying elsewhere and would have to travel to Ft Wilderness then I wouldn't recommend risking the amount of travel time against the prospect of hungry bellies.

Keep trying for the ADR, people change their plans all the time.

We have eaten at TE when it was practically empty, but also another time when it was completely packed and we had to wait a while past our ADR time. You never know.

I would just keep checking for an earlier ADR. Something is bound to open up.

Walk up is always a gamble anywhere. If it's during free dining you have less of a chance. I was able to score next day ressies so it's easy to switch it. If you show up early, they usually will try to seat you early.

We've been to the Trail's End buffet three times, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. We've been in late October 2015, late April 2016 and mid-February 2017 (which was when we did the breakfast). All three times, we overheard multiple groups trying to get a walk-up and they were all advised to check the MDE app and see if there were any reservations available. When we were seated, the restaurant was definitely NOT packed and there were numerous empty tables.

Both our dinner ADRs were around 6pm and the breakfast ADR was around 11am. I'm sure this is a "your mileage may vary" type of situation, and three visits isn't a very broad sampling. However, I don't think I'll ever try to eat there without an ADR...but that's partially because I would be very disappointed to miss out on a meal there just because I didn't make a reservation. Trail's End is one of our favorite places to eat!
