Tragic story...

awful. The mom must have been gone a long time for all of that to have happened though

Definitely. I just can not even fathom anything about this..Makes me cry a lot. I hope someone reads this, and thinks twice.

Youre reading my mind... the older boy unbuckled her and instantly feel asleep?

How sad - regardless.

This is so sad. I would feel absolutely horrible if I was the mommy. I'm not saying that to place blame...I just can't imagine something like this happening. I would feel so responsible.

This whole story sounds weird.:confused3
Where on earth was the mom for so long? The boy fell asleep?? she must have been gone ages.
Sounds like child neglect to me...Leaving the engine running???? I just can't fathom it.:confused3
Why didn't the man who found her shout out for help? It all seems so strange...but very very sad.:sad2:

Also..the man placed her back in her carseat and fastened her in? Why when she was out? So many questions.

I've heard stories about how powerful those car windows are, so I keep mine locked. I never leave my dd alone in the car, but she likes to play with the windows while I'm driving. Thus the need to have them locked at all times.

The poor girl. My heart goes out to her. What a sad story. :sad2:

Why didn't the man who was calling 911 stop the woman from driving off? And why did the MoM not notice the girl was out of her Car seat? Like helllloooo how did a 2year old unbuckle herself, since she was inside, she didn't know her son did it..

This story is sooo Sad :sad2: and makes me soooo Angry

My neice is 3, she breathes funny and I'm asking her if she is OK

"Charges will not be laid. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death but police say it appears to have been cardiac arrest."

You dont leave a 6yo in a car to watch a 2yo.. and with the car running.... what an idiot... there should be some type of charges against this mom.

I agree the woman should have been more responsable, but in defense of leaving the car running. It's Calgary, AB, Canada. Its very cold at this time of year and it was better to keep it running than to freeze the kids. She should have just taken the kids in with her, but that was her choice.

Similar story around here last month, only it happened while the deceased girl's Grandmother was driving! How she could not be aware of this going on behind her while driving during the Winter no less (wouldn't you feel a draft?) is beyond me.

The more I think about this the more questions I have.
Why would you let a 6 year old in the front seat anyway? Shouldn't he be in the back seat, in a booster?
When putting the 2 year old back in her carseat, wouldn't you notice the poor girl's body is more like a ragdoll then a sleeping child? How don't you know that your daughter isn't breathing?

I live in Calgary, and it was not cold enough yesterday to have to leave your kids in the car (leave it running) while you ran to the bank. Just last month another mother ran into the bank left her child sleeping in the car...and didn't lock the doors :scared1: Okay if this isn't a invtation for someone to steal her SUV I don't know what is...luckily the person who stole the SUV realized there was a child in the car and quickly left the vehicle in the same parking lot they stole it from. But the Calgary police have been pushing this issue with parents alot in the last few months, and it's something like this to make people sit up and listen. It's sad that kids are the one to suffer....even to this day if I run into the store and I have my daughter in the car, I always tell her lock the door after me I don't want anyone to steal you...she's 18.

Linda I was shocked at first...when I read that you leave your dd in the car whilst you shop.:scared1: ...Then I read she is 18..;)
You know Iam the same way with my Ds 14. And I would never ever ever..leave my dd6 alone in the car even while I just ran in the shop.
It might be an inconvience but arn't our kids the most precious things in our lives....
At first I thought they should bring charges against the mother...But then I realised she will probably serve a life sentence of guilt anyway.

My kids also are drawn to the power windows and ours are locked too. This is just so sad and senseless. Why do people think it's okay to leave kids in a car alone ever? I will only use pay at the pump gas stations because I won't leave my ds's in the car alone. Very sad.

This story sounds really fishy to me. First, the man supposedly finds the girl stuck in the window. How did he get the car door open in order to put her back in her seat? Why did he not just start yelling for help?
And IF someone had opened the car door to put the little girl back in her car seat, WHY didn't the 6 year old wake up????
THEN< the 6 year old could have said "Mommy, there was a man that put ______ back in her seat after she got stuck in the window"

And assuming the 6 year old was a heavy sleeper, wouldn't the lifesaving man have tried to wake up the sleeping 6 year old and tell him that he was going to get help?

These have GOT to be some seriously stupid cops to just go ahead and declare this an accident without a thorough investigation.
