Here in Orlando-arrived late afternoon. We live only two hours from Orlando. Got off at 192 west. Bad accident at World drive and 192. I think a semi hit the overpass and cracked the bridge. Took 1 hour and 45 min to get from I-4 to the hotel on 192 West because all the traffic was rerouted! It was a nightmare! I'm hoping they have the roads open tomorrow!!!

Welcome to Central Florida. Traffic is pretty much always terrible.

I had a dentist appointment in Celebration this afternoon. Saw traffic backing up about 2 miles from 192 so I jumped on 417. Worth the buck. :rotfl:

I have gone up and down I-4 (coming and going to WDW) only like 10 times.

I swear every time we are on that road there is an accident with an SUV on its roof or its side in the median with everyone standing around it unhurt with a "What the hell happened?" look on their face.

Florida drivers! I swear I've seen more accidents in the 5 months I've lived here then the 20 something's years I lived back home. its really crazy.. Stay safe

It's not us natives. It's all those transplants that keep coming here. Something about Florida roads makes people go nuts.

Ahhh yes, Welcome to central Florida indeed. For me, today was amazing. I clocked out of work at 4:59 hit ALMOST every light perfectly :drive: and made it home in LESS than 45 minutes (which is still 10 minutes longer than it should take) BUT, about 30 minutes less than most Fridays. I did cartwheels when I got home.

P.S. there is this comedy skit by Micheal Loftus, called "The Freeway Makes you Mean" OH MY GOSH :lmao: so funny, and so very central Florida. :thumbsup2

I think it is all the people driving cars they are unfamiliar with while trying to navigate an eight lane road with lots of traffic and exits on both sides of the road. Or on 192 add crazy people crossing the road!!

I use 417 whenever possible.

I agree. I'll tell you when I started visiting alot the guy and enterprise was taking forever. When he finally got to me, he was like I'm sorry the people before you didn't know which was the gas and break. I was like and you gave them a car?!!

It's those Carolina drivers that do not know the word merge and think that you must brake every 200 feet and at every on/off ramp. We spent more time in traffic in those states then on our whole trip combined.

There's a lotta folks who don't know how to merge. :sad2: It blows my mind on I-4, especially when your at a dead stop, and there's no accident.

:moped: here we goooooooooooooooooooo :rotfl2: wait Tampa left or right Orlando left or right open the map will ya GPS has me going in circles :drive::sad2: its not the natives its not the transplants (hey watch it !!) its the Tour----- oops never mind ;)

I am laughing reading this because you can take every single example, change the route numbers and move it to any major city in the United States and it would apply. I can guarantee you it fits in the Atlanta area perfectly. Just change I4 to I75 or I85 and it works.

:thumbsup2 truer words haven't been written Native NYer and now a transplant :rotfl: all my life I dealt with the Long Island Expressway the Brooklyn Queens Xprsway all the major bridges and tunnels you can do that FL traffic never phases me I-4 ? piece of cake

What you really have to watch out for when driving in Orlando are the tourists doing dumb things and the aggressive driving locals doing dumb things,As far as amount of traffic I've driven in more than enough places that have worse traffic than Orlando,in Atlanta during rush hour every single car in the expressway was doing 85mph and basically tailgating each other,I've never seen that and it kind freaked me out not being used to it as I live in S.Florida which also has crazy traffic but you have people doing 90mph swerving in and out of others doing 60mph in a 70mph zone.New York is insane as well and I couldn't imagine trying to cross the Bay Bridge in San Francisco every day in rush hour it took me about 30 minutes to go about 2 miles to get to the bridge and it appeared to just be normal traffic.Comparing all these places to Orlando I realize Orlando isn't too bad and as someone said there are other options like jumping on the 417 to avoid I-4 or taking a ground street around it,but I have to say I always keep my eyes open in Orlando as you're likely see more dumb moves than in other cities with more traffic.
