We are taking a quick trip to U.S. for HHN in October. We have an 8:00 flight out of MCO on a Monday night. What is the traffic situation in the area getting from Universal to MCO during the evening rush? We will spend the day at the park and head straight from there to the airport. I will need to drop the rental and then head in. Any advice or things to worry about? If I leave Universal around 5-5:30 I should be fine right?

We won't be checking a bag, but will probably want to grab something to eat before boarding. I will have boarding passes (JB) ahead of time and avoid the ticket counters.

Thanks for any info.

Traffic can be crazy down there at that time. I would actually plan on leaving US by 4:30, at the latest. You should be able to get to MCO by 5:30, even with traffic...return the car, and then grab a bite to eat. In this case, I really think earlier is much better.

Excellent. Thank you. That's what I was looking for. I think we are taking 528 and over and it appeared it could get a bit congested. I would rather get there with time to spare than run like a mad man and risk missing flight.

Thank you.

I think departing Universal at 5:30pm is just fine. It's a short stretch of I-4 from Uni to TOLL 528 and then a direct route to MCO. You'll likely be there by 6:15pm. There are 2 toll plazas along the way.

I agree with Kingbob. I tend to leave super early and I always use 4 to 528 from my condo behind Disney and from there I would leave around 5. In the area of universal I would definitely not feel the need to leave before 5

Great, thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Traffic wise you will probably be fine leaving around 5 - 5:30- it's the security lines you may have to worry about. They can be a nightmare. You never know if you are going to breeze through or get hung up for a long time.

That's true. Thank you Minnie.
