Traffic On Here

Back in full planning mode for our forthcoming trip in October so I've been on here quite a bit lately but the volume of traffic seems well down on what it was say a year ago. Anyone else noticed or know the reason why this might be? I know a few people defected to the dibb but that doesn't seem very busy either. I tried RADP for the first time in a year or so and found it to be the same as ever: mostly flames and arguments. Could there just be fewer people planning on going this year because of the political situation?

I think there has been a marked drop in the number of people from the UK going abroad and I think that has something to do with it. I do feel that being part of the "larger picture" on the US site as opposed to having our own site and boards has also spread some of the readers a little thinner on the ground. I think there are a number of reasons that have led to a slight decrease in traffic here.

Hi Alex,

You can use a Usenet news reader such as Outlook Express to access RADP, but google works as well - try this link:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=rec.arts.disney.parks

It's worth pointing out that the language can get a little colourful at times - if easily offended, be careful. Some posters also seem to like nothing more that to pick fights with each other.

The volume of messages can be very high - at times more than a couple of hundred posts per day.

Have fun!

It sounds interesting Paul :p
I'm not very easily offended, my skin is quite thick really :)
I'll check out that link tommorow. I'll let you know what I think.
Speak to you soon.

Hahahaha - just a little!!! Watch out with newsgroups - they are curiously addictive and you can find your surf time increasing. As paul says tho, do watch out. there are FAQs for most of the ngs and it does pay to read them before jumping in - all sorts of etiquette about top-posting and snipping, plus these horrible beings called trolls, that like nothing better to destroy a perfectly good ng by posting obscenities etc just to drive the normal posters away.

Good discussion, Phil.

There is a traditional 'lull' on the boards around this time, probably due to general winter and post-Christmas blues plus fewer people are travelling this time of year so the 'excitement posts' are fewer.

Many of us use DIS and DIBB in equal proportions and both are quiet at the moment.

Glad to get the RADP link as I've been intrigued by them for some time as a certain literary report genious is/was a 'player' there in Reports gone by.

I still drop in on RADP most nights to check out the latest info, but I hardly ever post there.

It really isn't as bad as some newsgroups, but the occassional nasty post does get through and there is some 'flaming', although it is relatively mild.
