Traffic leaving the parks

We're planning our second trip to Disney. Last time we flew and stayed on-site. This time we're driving and considering staying off-site. How is the traffic getting out of the park at closing? We don't want to sit in traffic for an hour just to get out, especially with three little kids.

We stayed off site last year and many times stayed til park closing. Traffic not bad at all most times (longest was at MK due to monorails crowded with people trying to get back to TTC....) mine all fell asleep in car on way back to condo anyway lol

For me, I thought it was very easy to get out of all parks. We stayed till as after fireworks, and still traffic flowed easily.

I think all the parks(Disney,Universal and for the most part Sea World) have lots and garages that handle a lot of cars entering and exit pretty well.Universal for example has the two largest parking garages on earth with each one having what seems like 8 exits as it seems you always go out a different way.Disney has like two dozen resorts so people are more spread out when exiting with many taking buses back to their hotels so again its unusual to have extended delays exiting by car, waiting for buses, monorails and boats is another story as those can get bad.Sea World is usually also not a problem except for apparently during their Bands Brew and BBQ days where I have had issues a couple times where cars didn't move for 30+ minutes. At closing during this event they have a concert that pretty much closes the event for the day and thousands of people exit the park at once and this parking lot has fewer ways out creating gridlock.I've told myself after this event ends in the future to just chill in the park for a while.

We typically stay off site and never run into long delays getting out of the parking lots or on the roadways back to our rental house. Longest waits are, as previously mentioned, waiting for monorail/ferry out of the park to TTC.
