Traffic in Orlando Question

Hello Dissers!

We will be staying for the first time in Orlando this August, 2 weeks at All Star Sports. What I am worried about is driving to Universal / Discovery Cove / Sea World from our hotel (we will be renting a car). When is the best time of day to go to avoid traffic? Is there any route preferable to another? Please forgive me if these questions seem silly, but I would really not like to spend precious vacation time stuck in traffic or driving around in circles! :rotfl: Thank you for any help!

Traffic is only a problem in the morning and late afternoon. Every time we've gone there has never been a problem with traffic on I-5. Drive to Sea World should be no more than 10 to 15 minutes from the All-Star resorts, if that and Universal Studios should be another 5 to 7 minutes with average traffic. Worse case scenario should have you at Universal Studios within 30 minutes or so if there's a real nasty accident on I-5 and has traffic backed up for miles.

There is no I-5 in Orlando...It's I-4.

I just got back and had absolutely no problems with driving around Orlando. I found everything to be well marked and really didn't find the traffic (even at peak hours) to be any different than at home (we live in a mid-size city).

It shouldn't be that bad going to Universal and Sea World. Traffic gets worse the closer to Orlando that you get. There may be lines trying to get into the park but traffic on I-4 should be OK unless there is an accident.

Yeah, I agree. I-4 is your fastest route to both destinations and for those short distances, even rush hour traffic should not be that bad. ENJOY!!

You can easily get to SeaWorld and miss I4 alltogether. Take World Center Drive east to a left International Dr and then a left on Central Floriday Pkwy. You can also take the road that comes out from DTD then left on 535 then right on Palm Parkway then right on Central Florida Pkwy. I would suggest I4 for Universal though.
