I tried to post this earlier but I guess I messed up cuz there was nothing there. So my DW, DS-10, and I visit WDW relatively often, about every 2 years or so. We were trying to come up with a tradition that we can do every time to kinda kick off the magic so to speak. We would also like to have something that our son may pass down to his family when they go eventually. What kinds of traditions do any of you have?

Every visit, which is more then 20 now, we get our picture taken at the entrance to EPCOT. I have pics of me there with my parents and sister, alone, with my wife, with my wife and first daughter, and with my wife and two daughters, each showing how they have grown over the years.

What a great idea. We will have to go through all of our old pictures of our previous trips and see where we have taken pics.

We take an autograph book that we have pasted pictures of the girls with the character...you can see how they have grown up!

We buy a new ornament for our Christmas tree and get the year put on it. That way every year when we decorate we can remember and talk about that specific trip.

Now that the kids are older (18 & 21) I am going to guess what they will pass down to their own families:

DD (21): She will except nothing but the first night's dinner is ALWAYS Columbian Harbor House. This was always her request since she first ate there she was 3. :goodvibes

DS (18): Always stay at the WL/CL and as soon as you get to your room, unpack really, really quick and head to the pool to relax next to the waterfall! :goodvibes

A couple of great things to pass down. :goodvibes

We do the ornament thing as well. We pick out an ornament and put our last name with the year. This year my sister and new brother-in-law will get to the do the same thing.

We always start every trip with an evening visit to DTD and a meal at Earl of Sandwich (we are obsessed). Nothing major or over the top, but it is nice to anticipate the little things like this.

To kick off the trip, we ALWAYS go to DTD for dinner the day of arrival & eat at Wolfgang Puck Express. Each year we take a photo at the Marketplace sign. We also buy a Christmas ornament from the Christmas shop in DTD.

Other traditions we have at each park:
*MK- Always eat dinner at CHH the last night there; buy a giant Mickey cookie on Main Street as we exit the park and eat it on the way to the resort bus stop. And of course, a photo in front of the castle.
*EPCOT- Photo in front of Spaceship Earth; Buy fish and chips right before we get our spot (down by the lagoon) & eat it while we wait for Illuminations
*DHS - We always wear blue and have our photo made in front of the giant Sorcerer Mickey hat
*AK - Eat a Mickey bar during the Jammin' Jungle Parade.

We always go to MK the first day, and the first thing we do is get lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern.

My personal traditions usually include:
-Having a character meal the first night we arrive, whether it's in the park or not
-If we have park tickets we'll head right into MK and make sure to watch the Electrical Parade on our first night and just relax.

As for leaving traditions, I will always have a Magic Kingdom evening on the last night/day, and we always take a stop at the top of the train station and absorb everything in, get all that last little bit of pixie dust we can!

Dinner at Chef Mickey's first night. DS is 19 and would have it no other way, I always buy those pictures and it's amazing to see how he has grown. It's so funny because Mickey use to be taller than DS-not anymore, he's more in the Goofy stratosphere now! You just can't beat hugging Mickey on the first day of the trip :goodvibes

I'm all about the Christmas ornaments. Matter of fact this past Christmas I made sure to snap pictures of all of them on my phone before I put them away. This year we won't be standing in the Christmas Shop arguing over which ones I have already :rotfl:

We have one that's kind of corny, I've shared before, but here it is again. As we enter into MK we each touch one of the stones going under the train station-this is us leaving our real world cares and worries right there as we enter. We are in our laughing place at that point :cloud9:

We buy an ornament every trip. The only other thing that is consistent every trip is saying a prayer that my Visa won't spontaneously combust.

A lot of people get a photo of their DS standing next to the full size model of the guy in baseball gear, at Caseys Corner on Main St - you can see every year how they have grown! I am not clever enough to attach a link to this post (sorry!) but if you search I am sure you will find some pictures...I think its a brilliant idea!!:)

To answer you question OP - We have a few traditions.

1. MK is always the first park and for some reason Aladdins Carpets is always out first ride and Columbia Harbour House is always our first meal.
2. I always buy an ornament with the year and my daughter always buys a Mexican carved animal.
3. We have been taking my DD picture near the snowman @ Hollywood Studios since her very first trip. 10 years now! I will try and post her first and most recent.
