Trading with Jawas - details please

You just walk up to them and show them what you have and they'll give you something. We had forgotten our trading items and the only thing I had was a times guide. He acted like he didn't want it but took it and gave my daughter a little gem. It looked just like one from SDMT, so she was very excited!

Can anyone provide some info/details on how this works? TIA

I didn't have anything to trade so I didn't go up to them and was just standing back looking at some stuff in the room and one snuck up on me, grabbed my vlogging camera out of my hand and proceeded to try and trade me a flip-phone for it. :)

I recommend bringing something shinny or unique to trade. We brought fake casino chips from Vegas. They loved those.

Find the Jawas at Star Wars Launch Bay at DHS. They're typically in the area designed to look like the Mos Eisley Cantina. Offer them what you have to trade. They'll examine it and offer something in return. It's cute to see your little ones interact with them.

DD10 brought stuff from home - like glow sticks, mini lego figures that she put gems onto. They like things that sparkle! In return she received gems and droid heads and one butterfly trading pin.

Just found out this existed! My son is now looking around the house for things to trade

Same here in our household! Kids are picking out little shiny trinkets to take with us. I love it! Even if we don't actually see a jawa just the act of them collecting stuff to trade is fun!!
But, I've now put "trade with a. Jawa" on our wish list for the trip!!

This is so cool!! Thanks for posting about this. I just told DS about it and he's looking around the house now to see what shiny things we have to trade lol

They won't always trade with you, depends on the crowds, they can't trade with everyone. We've seen them guided out when guests get too obnoxious around them - they are very small. There are also restricted items they can not take, like any food items. Think in terms of something they can give away to other guests too, that is part of their thought process.

We took gold buttons and jingle bells - big hit. Mardi Gras beads are good too.

On our first visit to the Launch Bay we didn't know about them and stumbled on them. We didn't have anything to trade, so I dug around in our park bag and came up with...a bandaid. The Jawa was NOT impressed. He begrudgingly looked through his bag and finally came up with....a hair band. Note: I have a pixie cut. LOL. Touche Jawa.

On our recent trip we were prepared. Dh brought some random computer parts that the Jawa traded for a sivler pen. I gave them a blank CD that I had written the words "Death Star Plans" on. They were very excited about that.

After trading, be sure to seal the deal by throwing up your arms and shouting "Utini!"

It's now on our very long studios list too. If we don't see any I know my son will make us go back until we find them :)

We didn't go prepared. Asked the handlers what would work. They said to try a pen, but it didn't work. The Jawa didn't want it.
I will try to do better for the next time.

The Jawas were so fun!

I packed a random baggie of items and let the kids decide what they wanted to trade. The Jawas loved the jingle bells, plastic coins, a shiny barrette, and a finger puppet...but rejected crayons and a tire from a broken toy car. Every time we traded, we received droid parts.

Are there photopass photographers in the area that the jawas trade in?

None that I've ever seen. Funny story. After my daughters traded with the Jawas, we asked them to pose for a picture with our daughters. They were happy to do it. When I pulled out my camera, one of the Jawas tried to trade for the camera. haha
Where in the studios is this?
See my post above (post #4).
