I finally have DH truly interested in buying into SSR (Good things do come to those who wait!) One of his questions is how do "Points" translate into "Weeks" at other timeshare resorts. Would we be able to trade, say 250 points for a trip to Hawaii/
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

It depends on what size unit you are looking for. Hawaii is considered prime time all year, so a 1 bedroom is 160 points for 1 week. I don't have the conversion chart in front of me, but I think the 2 bedroom is 230.

We're spending a week in a 1-bedroom at the Kona Coast II next March for 144 points.

For HI, count on 160 points for a 1 BR and 270 for a 2 BR. I think the studio is 134 as well. Some resorts and times of the year might be slightly less. Timeshare exchanging is not for the weak of heart. It's more like playing blackjack or buying a used car. Frankly, buying DVC with the idea of exchanging at all is not a reasonable approach. If you want DVC, just buy less points and then look at other options for the other trips. Other options might include cash or other timeshare options. There are simply too many risks and issues and DVC is far too expensive to buy it with the idea of exchanging even a portion of the time.

1BR 2BR
LOW 124 207

MID 144 252

HIGH 160 270

The dates of each season depend on the resort.
