Trading Vinylmation?? Help!

I hit all the DTD locations to trade Vinylmations tonight.

By the way, one CM told me the Star Wars set will not be released until May/June, to coincide with Star Wars Weekends.

I asked at three locations their procedure for the blind box trade. The first one told me if I selected a number from the blind box, I would have to trade whether I liked my blind choice or not. I passed on this one. The second one told me I could elect to not trade after I saw my blind choice. This CM also let me take a second choice. I liked neither, so again I did not trade. The third location also told me I didn't have to trade blind, saying they were "cool here". As they opened the blind box, I mentioned I was hoping for any from the Muppets series. The CM volunteered up Rowlf from the box, at which point I told them "sold" and also that they were "very cool here". ;) The point here is that every CM is different, so ask!

You will also see "open box" clear cases with three figures inside, always by a register. If you like any of these, you can trade for it on the spot. I did this tonight too.

Just wanted to add if you see one in the clear box you want, JUMP ON IT. I saw one I had been looking for for my whole trip (the pirate from Parks 3) and the poor cashier at Once Upon a Toy didn't know anything about trading the Vinylmations and by the time I explained it to her someone behind me in line had gotten up to another cashier and traded for that one. It was my last day so I wasn't particularly happy but luckily enough I went to the pin shop to meet my friend and they had the pirate in the clear box there so I grabbed him! :goodvibes"

Unfortunately that was a misinformed CM. The Star Wars Vinylmations were released in January.

Thanks! That's great to know! I figured that the CM's variability would come into play! LOL It just depends on their attitude and how fun they want to make it...especially for my little DS! Hopefully they will give the little guy a chance!! :) Thanks again!

My DD11 really got into VM on our trip in Oct. One of the new series out are the Disney Villains. Also, There are Trading events like they have with pins. I'm not sure what they are like but there may be one at a resort when you're there. We too carry a few with us each day as you never know when you walk in a shop if you will be able to trade.:)

And where are they available? I figure that D-Street at DTD (pretty much Vinylmation Central) would know their stuff....

ETA: I've poked around and come to the conclusion they were available. I didn't see any in D-Street. Oh well.

The release was a widely publicized and highly celebrated one, I wasn't lying haha. The CM may have meant (or may have been told and misunderstood) that they were holding further restocking until SW Weekends. It's possible. They have been out of stock for a while and people have been waiting for them to come in, but the truth is the CMs are as unreliable in this regard as they are for info on a fifth park. People have reported multiple different answers from CMs on the same day with regards to additional shipments of Star Wars.

It happens with VMs sometimes. There was a while where Holiday 1 was drying up and everyone thought it was retiring... and then all of a sudden weeks later the stores started getting flooded with them. Same thing with Cutesters.

Yeah I think this is what happened, or misunderstood me to be asking when they would be available again. I'm pretty new to the Vinylmation angle of Disney, as you can tell!
