Trading to DVC with RCI??

I suspect there have been units that came and went early Jan. I do not currently have a unit on deposit with RCI weeks so I cannot confirm specifics on that option from an RCI weeks direction. I have not been as active in looking in RCI points the last 2-3 months as I normally am. However, I think it's likely you'll see something else come through for this time at SSR/OKW though maybe not for a 2 BR unit. Once the 7 month window is passed for DVC, you may want to consider non DVC options more seriously.

I've cleared the idea that we may not get a 2 bedroom but can use my inlaw's points to get us 2 studios or a one bedroom and a studio if we have to do it that way. As long as we are at the same resort, it isn't critical that we are in the same unit. I think that should help. There just haven't been ANY DVC units available for RCI points that first week in December yet.

Why would the 7 month window make a difference for RCI reservations at DVC?

The 7 month window means that more units tend to be deposited because DVC can use points from other resorts to reserve any unit that's available then give it to RCI. At this point I won't be surprised if you can get 2 units or even a 2 BR but I'm less optimistic for AKV or the other destination resorts. I know by now you're aware that 2 units means both 2 exchange fees and 2 $95 resort services fees. Just a caution, gambling on DVC may mean you lose the best off property options as well. I'm confident you can get in to most of the resorts off property in a 2 BR but you may lose the Hilton's, Wyndham and Houses at Summer Bay at legit options if you wait too late. Let us know what happens.

If we can't use the IL's RCI points to get into DVC we'll keep the DVC reservation we already have using our DVC points. We are at AKV and VWL. It would be nice to not use our points since the ILs offered theirs, but the main goal is still to be on property at Disney one way or the other.

Dec3-10 in a two bedroom at OKW popped up early this morning so we took it. The inlaws may come in on the 3rd since we have it now but DH and I will still arrive on 12/4. We're keeping AKV for the 9th and 10th, too, since we are leaving on the 11th to go on our cruise. I didn't want to switch to AKV for only one night so we'll be double booked for 12/9.

Since the inlaws STILL have a boatload of RCI points to use,now I'm starting to look for a one bedroom for the week of March 13-20 for DH and me. So far there is only OKW and Saratoga and I"m not willing to give up my DVC concierge reservation for eitherof those. Even if the RCI points are free.
