I am waiting on my new Dvc to close, so I cannot buy APs using the discount until then. We are hoping to take a trip within weeks of closing.
Is it possible to purchase tiks (either through MDE or undercover tourist) and link them to my acct so that I can make Fp ressies. Then when I get to DW, trade in those tiks for the discounted price of APs? Where would I do this at, and would I need my Dvc member card or just my number?

1)Yes
(you can only make advance FP+ for as many valid ticket days you link into MDE (so you wouldn't want a 4 day ticket if you plan on using 7 days of FP+ that trip))

2) Any (inside or outside) park or DTD guest relations...its best to upgrade after using the ticket at least once (but before all days are used) the key Disney word is "Bridge". You get max ticket credit if they follow their bridging proceedure, but not all CM's do.
You don't have to upgrade right away, unless you want TIW or other AP discounts. I normally upgrade when I am leaving a park for an afternoon break.

3) for any DVC AP purchase you need the DVC member card and photo ID's for all adults (showing the same address as the DVC member)

Thanks for the reply!
Can you explain further why I should use at least a day on the original ticket before upgrading?
Would it be better/worse to purchase from uct vs dis?

When exchanging an unused ticket, Disney will give you credit for what they were paid for the ticket. If you purchased directly from Disney, this means you'll get credit for exactly what you paid for the original ticket. If, however, you purchased it from a ticket broker or other discount location (like UCT), you may receive less than what you actually paid. That's assuming that the broker you purchased from added on a small profit for themselves.

For a partially-used ticket, in most circumstances, Disney will first bridge the used ticket to the current gate price before doing the exchange. This means the credit you get for the ticket will be the price they're charging on that day for the same ticket, and not the amount you originally paid. One exception to this is a ticket purchased directly from Disney as part of a package. Those won't be bridged, and you'll only get credit for the original ticket price paid. Other exceptions include convention tickets and other special tickets sold to groups, which usually can't be upgraded.

If the ticket is completely used, Disney may not allow you to upgrade it. (They've implemented this policy to prevent people from selling their used tickets to others after a vacation, which allowed the second user to get the upgrade price instead of paying for a new base ticket. It's a further enforcement of their rule that tickets can only be used by the original guest.) If, however, the fully-used ticket was purchased directly from Disney, they may allow you to show the original credit card to prove you were the original purchaser of the ticket. If purchased from a non-Disney source, they won't allow the upgrade.
