Trading Spaces - My addiction

After spending the past 10 months or so religiously watching Trading Spaces on TLC, I decided that we should remodel our Dining Room. Notice I said I decided because I think DH Matthew (Obi-Wan Pinobi) was really not a willing player in this whole scheme. LOL

Since I'm not feeling well I really took it slow and it took about a month to complete. Actually it's only about 95% done right now. We still need to clean the hardwood floors and do some touch up.

I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but the top of the walls above the chair rail are done in Venetian Plaster. That took up quite some time but it looks great and is well worth it.

So here are the befores and afters... tell me if you like it, but please be kind when you say ewww.. gross..LOL!

I love the venetian plaster treatment (Doug's favorite!) It turned out great! Was it hard to get the hang of it?

The window treatment- classic. The colors- like rich, burnished metal (but not shiny) tones.

Even your furniture looks richer in this setting. Classic, classy, and gorgeous!

Kathy, I absolutely loved doing the plaster technique. I didn't have trouble at all getting the hang of it but DH Matt just couldn't master it to save his life..lol

I can imagine it would be a lot of hard work doing the entire room at once. I took it one wall at a time since I knew I had serious limitations. You can basically do the plaster one day and come back and top coat it 24 hours later.

I looked at the before pictures and the room looked so pretty that I couldn't understand why you wanted to remodel it. Then I looked at the after pictures and it looks so much more elegant and classy now. You did a great job!

I had the same thought as the others - it looked really nice in your before pictures, but when I saw the after pictures, all I could say was WOW! It is beautiful - you did a fantastic job!!

Here we are down in in Fl..busting our collective butts, remolding our newly bought home, trying to figure out where to start...picking out our carpeting and tile, (and maybe the wrong color and tile, but nooooooo one was here to give us any suggestions...noooooo)

So here she is...the Queen of trading spaces, and she lets us stumble through this alone

Sooo now the carpeting is down, they finished the tile yesterday, and what if we screwed up royally....do you care????? Nooooo......too busy keeping all this talent to yourself..... Well FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANYHOO!!!! It looks great Lauri....but where did you get that Adonis statue in your Before pics.....I think you should have just left him where he was..

I just bought a house with white paint on every wall - so what the heck is venetian plaster and how do you learn how to do it? I love it!
