p.s. what's sedesma? i've seen that on ebay and wasn't sure.
Remember that when you trade a pin to a CM, that's a pin that is up for trade to another park guest just like yourself. You aren't just trading to a CM, you are effectively trading to other guests, by proxy. It's not about "just trading for expensive pins." It's that cheap-o pins take quality pins (VERY different thing from expensive pins) out of the trading pool, and it's really disheartening for a lot of pin traders to go up to CMs all day seeing nothing but poorly made pins. I've trade cast lanyard pins to CMs for rack pins that I hadn't seen before and really caught my eye.
Getting quality pins does NOT have to be expensive. You can get quality Disney made pins (ie not Sedesma (company out of spain) and not Propin) for as little as $2.00 each if you give it a little patience on eBay. There's a person on the dizpins boards that regularly sells quality pins in both large and small quantities for $2.25 per pin.
Pin Trading is a wonderful tradition in the parks. It's up to us as guests to keep it fun for everyone involved - not just ourselves, but other guests and the CMs too! Granted, while some of them don't care, a lot of the CMs do pin trading because they love it too, and it's disheartening for them as well to have a lanyard full of Sedesmas and Propins that just aren't up to the usual Disney standard of quality.
But yeah, if people ultimately decide to keep with the really cheap-o pins, I udnerstand the reasoning, but it's really not that much more to go with quality Disney pins with a little patience and searching. There's my plea!
