Trading pins with a CM help?!?

Im planning our first trip for december and would like to know when you trade with a CM do you pick the one to give them or do they pick (making it a true "trade")?

No you can choose the pin you would like from them and replace it with a pin you dont want any more.

You can just give them one, but I like to let them choose (since all the pins on my lanyard are traders anyways). Some CM don't care, but most seem to enjoy being able to select a pin.

You can choose what pin to give them. They do like to pick because they know what helps the trading as well as wearing their favorite character too. However they cannot have a duplicate pin on their lanyard. I know we had this come up once that the one we had planned on trading was already on their lanyard. So we had to pick a different one.

As PP's have said, you can do either: allow them to pick one or pick for them. Some CMs seem to enjoy getting to choose, while others don't seem to care. The only time that it's probably better if you pick the pin you want to give them is if you're trying to trade with a CM during a really busy time. For example, I was in line to buy something and the CM at the register had a neat pin, but there was a line of guests behind me. So we did a quick trade at the end of the purchase, but it only took a few seconds because I had the pin to trade already in hand ready to go.

Yes, you can trade the 3-dimensional vinylmation pins and the flat metal vinylmation pins. At one point, the CMs at D-Street (at DTD) would only trade a vinylmation pin for a vinylmation pin (i.e., their lanyards were all vinylmation pins and they wouldn't trade for a non-vinylmation pin). I don't know if they're still doing that.
