I will be trading one of my RCI weeks for a week at Disney (most likely Boardwalk) is it possible for me to get the dining plan if I do this? I have never done this before and am super confused.

Yes, as long as DVC members are still eligible for the plan, you should be able to get it, too. Just call MS (you'll get a contact number after you get your confirmation) and add it to your reservation. You'll pay for it at check in.

Hopefully you can get the trade. You can get the DDP currently but must get it for everyone for 7 days for an exchange even if you stay less. Don't forget there is an extra $95 fee to Disney above your RCI exchange fee.

I just wanted to say a big, HUGE woohoo! After HOURS of problems this morning we got it all booked :goodvibes
Great, I saw quite a bit of BWV units online that I hoped might work for you.

Dean, In the past you wrote you were in the process of buying / selling a bunch of timeshares would share some of your recent experiences when everything closed.

You seem to have an intelligent thought process of how to mix DVD and non DVC timeshares into a well rounded portfolio. I am interested in learning a bit more from your experiences (I am in the process of purchasing a SSR resale contract and may be interested in mixing it up). If I recall you bought some real cheap timeshares on ebay...

I am all ears!

I did buy 3 Marriott weeks, didn't sell anything. My purchases were 2 Ocean Front units for summer at HH more to use and 1 unit that I envisions as the best trade VALUE right now with Marriott. All closed successfully and all were as touted which was one of the concerns I have when dealing with people you're not totally sure know the ins and outs. Of these 3, two were from ebay and one from redweeks. All units MUCH cheaper than they could have been bought over the past 3 years for OF, likely about $25K cheaper than 2-3 years ago but still a chunk of change. Given we were looking at possibly buying a HH condo, still a good deal for us.

As for mixing it up, I try to position myself to use different systems for their strengths. For Marriott that's using the top weeks/resorts and trading in II Marriott to Marriott and reserving multiple weeks to take advantage of the 13 month reservation option. For DVC, that's using at DVC avoiding weekends. For Bluegreen that's using the VIP system to my advantage, trading in the RCI weeks system, trading in to DVC and using points for deposit for the RCI points system. For RCI points, again used for trading in to DVC and for the resorts within that system in a way that fits my needs. Just traded a 1 BR BG week for a 2 BR BCV week for next late summer. There are a number of 2 BR DVC weeks for August in the RCI points system.

To be honest, I'm more positioning myself for retirement than right now though. It does require quite an investment to get to where I am, even with the currently reduced prices. However, one could do 80% of what I've done and likely 95% of what I really need, for around $50K. And one could position themselves for much of that for much less.

That's a summary, I'll stop there as to not get too far off on a DVC oriented BBS. I'm happy for you to email me directly if you'd like.
