We are considering purchasing at Kidani to get the founding member status at GCV.

I read once somewhere that once the DVC are open at a location, you cannot use your points to stay at the hotel.

Is this true, or did I misunderstand?

If the villas are booked up at GCV, I am wondering if I will have the option to stay the the GCH later on.

I know we would not be able to book until 7 months out, but we typically travel at as off peak a time as possible and have no school age children.

TIA!

I think you will still be able to stay in non-DVC rooms at DLR using points as there are several WDW resorts that still allow this (GF, Poly, CR, etc). However, I think the point requirements will be higher...so it may not be as good a value as the DVC villas. Honestly, we haven't seen a whole lot of information about how they are going to handle GCV but I sure wish they'd spill the beans!

Have you already been to DL -- I remember you were headed there soon. Hope it was a wonderful visit. :goodvibes

To date, any Disney resort which also has a DVC component has not accepted DVC point stays at the non-DVC portion of the hotel.

This is the case at BWV/BWI, VWL/WL, BCV/BC and AKV/AKL. If the same pattern continues with future DVC resorts, then you might not be able to use DVC points at the GC once the villas open.

Stay Tuned! :)

Don't you think you'd still be able to stay at the other two DLR hotels though? I guess I was focusing more on staying at any of the hotels vs. the GC exclusively -- sorry OP! :flower3:

Yes, I'd expect at the most that only the GC would be affected.

Which is typically the only hotel we choose to stay at!

Pooh.

But, since it is our intent to buy into GCV, it would be a non issue.

If we do it.

Maybe.

Before I purchased DVC a friend of mine who owns Hilton Grand Vacations stated, "I hate staying in standard hotel rooms." I had no clue to what he was talking about.

Now that I own DVC I am a spoiled brat. I hate staying in standard hotel rooms.

Everyone has different tastes but I suspect you may not want to use the main hotel for standard hotel stays. :thumbsup2

You're probably right, we have been forking over the bucks for a 2 or 3 bedroom concierge suite at the Grand for the last 3 years, which is why when I do buy my break even point will be a lot faster than their 5 - 7 years...

That is what I tell myself, anyway.
