Hi,

We are planning a trip to Hawaii either late this year (OCT-DEC) or early next (JAN or FEB). We have never been there and are just starting to make plans and research. If we can trade our DVC points, what resorts would be the nicest to try to reserve, on any of the islands? And how difficult would it be to get a reservation? Our dates are wide open and very flexible. Also, what time of the year is best? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

There are experts on the board who can suggest the "nicest" (but hard to get) places. However, I can tell you from first-hand experience that the Kona Coast on the Big Island is not difficult to get with a year's advance notice. Except for the fact that it has a golf course between it and the beach, it's a very nice place.

Yes, Kona Coast Resort will be the easiest to get into. We loved it there, but then the Big Island is our favorite anyway! You can also join TUG and go for a private exchange. There are quite a few around the end of the year. I was just over there looking yesterday.

If you search this BBS with my name and words like Hawaii, exchange, Marriott, Westin, Embassy (one at a time); you'll get a lot of info. I've probably answered this question 10 times or more.

But you are already behind if you're looking for 2004 to early 2005. Oct to early December will be FAR easier and don't even think about a 2 BR as it's very unlikely to be available at the better places.
