Trader Sam's Grotto

Oh I'm fine with the price. The 52 was just a shock because there are no prices on the menu so when the bill came it was a quick sticker shock. The mug is currently our center piece and I'm trying to figure out how to make it look even better. Someone suggested I put an aloe plant in it which isn't a bad idea. 52 was just a lot for non-drinkers is all. I believe that and the Uh-Oh are the most expensive drinks on the menu.

Wow. Prices aren't on the menus...that ain't right...

Anyone been to the one in Disneyland? How does this one compare? We love the CA version, but I can't decide if it will be worth the trip when we are at WDW in May.

Ahh ok. That explains a little - but not the size of the place. We fans tend to take a small announcement like this bar and turn it into something it was never meant to be. I expected something really cool in Trader Sam's - and was let down by my own expectations.

I have no gripe with the prices in TS's. It's a resort. ...and you're getting a very cool take home if you decide to make the purchase. I prolly would have bought the Nautilus if time had permitted me to do so, but the underwhelming space caused me to move on...

The size of it was what really floored me as well. We showed up and there was room, but the only available seats were at some of the table tops where smaller parties had left open 2 seats here and there. Needless to say, I wasn't that interested in "cozying up" (as encouraged by the host) and crashing someone's night out. We detoured out to the terrace and had our drinks there.

We were there and shared the large table with another group. They are very big on table sharing! The place is really much smaller than I thought it would be. It was a lot of fun. Good for a drink and some "show" and go.

If you are use to the CA one this is similar in our opinion. We sat on the terrace at DL and it was crowded inside (D23 Expo) but it felt to be the same size just some different speciality drinks.

The two Sams are comparable in theming. We felt DL put on a better show with more personable waitstaff.

At DL, they do a better job of making sure you receive the glow cubes after you've finished your drink and they bring your souvenir cups to you. At WDW, you have to take your receipt to the CM at the door to pick up your souvenir.

the DL version has a slightly smaller capacity and a different layout with more at-the-bar seating. Other than that it is pretty much the same.
