Trader Sam's Grog Grotto Crowds

I've heard that Trader Sam's has slowed down significantly since it opened earlier this year. My family will be heading on vacation in a little over a week. Can anyone who has been there recently or is there now tell me if it is still busy? Would love to spend an evening there as long as it doesn't have a long wait to get in.

DS went later in evening on Saturday. They were told they were out of buzzers and they would likely not get in, so they left. I would imagine you still have to avoid the weekends and earlier the better.

I agree with PP, day of week will matter. Monday night (two weeks ago) you could easily just wander in. Very slow.

was gonna try to hit it after Kona 2 Fridays from now......maybe a visit on Monday night might have better results.....hmmmm plans, plans....

We will be arriving 9/20 and leaving 9/25 so we hope to drop in at least once. Since WDW is a crowd level 3 for that week, I would think it would be easier to get in than during peak days.

We went Saturday 8/29 at 10 pm. We were given a buzzer and went to tambu lounge. We had two drinks there and at 10:45 the buzzer went off.

Trader Sam's is nice and we only went bc we had some free time. It was unexpected. It's not worth waiting hours. It's small. Not a lot of seats.

The night we went it was raining so no one was sitting outside.

We got the rum flight with the souvenir shot glasses.

We'll soon find out. Going later in Sept, and we're excited to go there at least once- probably more. Looks and sounds really cool, and as DH says "Nothing like a skull full of rum after a day at the parks."

When we went in May, we went on a Monday night (I think around 9) and were able to walk right in. Apparently it is slower on Monday nights because there is no luau.

You could also go and sit outside if you do not care about the theatrics inside the bar. You have access to the same menu outside but without the wait.
