Hi. want to goto trader sams. but not sure what to order.

- what is the tastiest drink to order? ( i dont mind sweet drinks)

- what is the best Rum drink to order?

- which drink or drinks give the best/neatest special effects trigger?

- which non-alcoholic drink is good for kids?

- do all the drinks come with a souviner glass? and if so, which has the neatest souviner glasss?

- is there an option to purchase the drinks with/without the souvinear glass?

thanks

It's a full bar, you can order anything that's not on the specialty menu. Personally, I don't like any of the drinks with orgeat, which is about half. I'm not really a fan of cinnamon in tropical drinks either. Also, the Shipwreck on the Rocks is basically a mojito with bourbon. I ordered it once to get the souvenir glass, but would just get a mojito next time. The Piranha Pool must be popular because you see them getting made in bulk, but I liked the Ka-Bluie a little more, it's the same thing without strawberry. Not that I'm a huge blue curacao fan. I think maybe I don't like tropical drinks too much. There are 4 souvenir glasses, they change versions periodically and aren't always all in stock. The ones that have it are Uh-Oa, Shrunken Zombie Head, Krakatoa Punch and Shipwreck. You can order the drinks without the glasses, it's a little cheaper. The non-alcoholic drinks don't really appeal to me, hibiscus and a lot of pineapple juice. For kids, I'd get them a Shirley Temple.

Here's the menu, for anyone who's curious:

I'm a mai tai fan and I usually get the HippopotoMai-Tai. I've been able to buy the souvenir glass for that too. The bartenders there are fantastic! We always have a great time. Have fun! :goodvibes

They have special holiday drinks right now! Gorilla Nog, Red Nose Zebra, and Mele Keliki-Mocha. When you order any of these drinks the Snow-Cano erupts. Super cute! I like coffee drinks, so I liked the Mele Keliki-Mocha. It came in a pretty tall glass and they put a garnish on it to look like a reindeer. I don't think any of these drinks come in a souvenir glass since they are not really tiki themed.

I wonder if those are new in the past 2 years? We were there 2 years ago the same time of year and I don't remember them. But I am definitely going to try them this time!

How late does Trader Sam's stay open? I am planning on hitting them up when I arrive on 12/10, but wondering if I should do it before or after I hit the parks (flight lands at around 5pm)...I am staying at DLH.

Just a side note- even if you do not wish to buy the souvenir glass- they will still be served in them. The Uh-Oa, for instance is around $40 for the drink and the glass, but only $20 without. Just make sure you clarify with your server when they bring the check.

Are all the alcoholic drinks $20? if so Wow ! I dont know if we will be going then.

The Uh-Oah is definitely meant to be a drink for 2. Although I do think it'd be a fun challenge to make it a drink for 1. LOL!

We drank maaaaaany drinks at TS's during our trip last spring. Off the top of our heads we recall about $10-ish without the souvenir glasses for most drinks. Maybe slightly less. We specified with each drink we ordered with or without the souvenir glass so the gal could ring it up accordingly. I did get one of the tikis at the end of the night. She gave me one clean in its original packaging which I thought was nice.

I want to add...I think that the drinks I had at Trader Sam's are the strongest on the Disney properties. My husband and I stopped in before a Halloween party to have a quick drink, and decided what the heck, and ordered one drink each in a souvenir glass (shrunken head and tiki glass). They were so strong we didn't even order any more because we didn't want to go to Mickey's Halloween party seeing pink elephants!

We are looking forward to going back and splitting an Uh-Oh between us and stumbling back to our room.

Also, as a side note, Captain America at the Marvel meet and greet will not be happy with you if you show up after going to a bar. Thor is down with this though.

Totally agree with Spacepest! The drinks may seem a tad pricy but they all seemed stronger & good quality. I never felt like I was paying too much for what I got. Much like buying martinis when the alcohol content is more you pay a little more.

Definitely worth checking out and having at least 1 drink to experience it.
