Trader Sams- 21 and over?

All lounges have nonalcoholic beverages available - water, sodas, sometimes juices, "virgin" mixed drinks.

I was thinking it might be adults only all of the time, I was thrilled to see kids can go in the afternoon. We plan to go for a date night alone but if that doesn't work out I definitely want to go anyway. I think the division is great!

The big problem is these same "my kids can go anywhere folks" tend to fall into two groups

1. The my kids are angels group. This group thinks the rest of us enjoy watching their darlings scream, throw stuff, play tag, climb over the furniture and otherwise amuse themselves while the adults "booze" LOL!

2. The my kids are saints group. This group will try to make people "behave" because their kids are present by saying things to other guests about their language or actions. This group then comes on here and whines about "all the drunks at Disney" and seems to expect that since "Disney is for families" we should all act only as their family thinks is approrpaite. LOL!

When you point out to these people that they took their kid to an adult environment they get on their Disney is for everyone hobby horse . Just because Disney is for everyone doesn't mean everyone gets to do everything. I can't go to kids clubs, two year olds can't ride all the rides... it's not everyone does everything all the time. LOL!

Or a 3rd group:

The I can't be away from my children (or my children can't live without me) for more than 5 minutes.

I will be going to WDW with both of my children. I will be going to Cali Grill and then Trader Sam's after for some drinks. It's going to be a date night! The kids will be in the room hanging out and/or sleeping. I'm so looking forward to that night! By mid trip I need a break away from them. And I don't have one ounce of guilt about it.

I vote yay! Yes, I have a 14 almost 15 year old, and am darn near excited I can now leave her in the room by herself, or she can explore some of the property by herself with cell phone in hand. I am staying at the Poly, and look forward to maybe spending an evening with my husband who will have just returned from a military deployment. I did my time with the toddler days, even taking her to Disneyland at the ages of 4 and 5, we reserved her a night in the Disney kid themed adventure, so my spouse and I can have a few hours to ourselves. Families come in all shapes, sizes, colors, etc etc etc. I expect the dollars we all pay, to include something for each of us.

Nice to have a teen. If you didn't have one you wouldn't be getting that time yet.

But Disney has kids clubs so parents can have a night out.

I don't see what the fuss is about. If adults without kids want to have a night at Trader Sam's, they can. Even families with kids can but the kids have to be outside after 8 and the parents can be with them. Before 8, no holds barred and everyone can sit where they want. What is the big deal for ONE place in all of Walt Disney World to have kids outside of the small bar area after 8. If you don't like it, don't go. If you like it, go. No need to bash anyone on a discussion board about it.

I have zero problems with the age restriction. Quite honestly, I thought it was really odd when we were at Sanaa two years ago and the bartender said my DS (then 6) could sit at the bar!! I, too, don't think it's appropriate for children to be running around bars in WDW. I've seen mad-scenes at The Wave lounge. And, quite honestly, it's probably more lucrative to put the age restriction in place after 8 pm. I'm sure they would rather fill the place with alcohol-buying adults than juice drinking children. And it's not like there is nothing else to do at WDW for children at 8 pm. Anyway, we are looking forward to experiencing Trader Sam's as a family at 4 pm for a pre-O'hana drink!

My son wasn't always a teenager. I had my years of going to Disney with small children. It doesn't change my mind regarding Trader Sams. I feel Disney should have some over 21 establishments. I felt that way when my kids were small too.

I had adult only time on previous trips. It's called the kids club or the babysitting service or, in my case, family in the area that would take my kids out for a few hours. My kids uncle (which is DDs godfather) lives in Sandord and always took the kids one night so we could have some adult time. We usually hit City Walk or somewhere else in the Orlando area.

I honestly don't understand what point you are making. The fact that kids are too young to sit by themselves in a hotel room is not a good reason to drag them to a bar in the late evening hours. As pointed out, there are other child care options at WDW besides dragging small children to bars. That can't be what you mean, so I don't get it.

I think it is weird that anyone would be upset about this. I've been around here for a while but I don't ever remember seeing any "I should be able to take my kids to Jellyrolls" threads. It's a bar, people. Adults at WDW deserve to have a tiny minority of places where they can go to escape your children and relax for a while. If not a bar, where?

This is a new BAR not a restaurant with a bar area. I feel the age restriction is both appropriate and welcome. There are very few spots where adults can relax without hordes of young children around. There are very many spots specifically for families with young children.

1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) Yes.
4) Yes.
5) Yes.
6) About time that ADULTS can have a place where they can be ADULTS (in addition to Jelly Rolls).
. . . Epcot tried
. . . they discouraged kids or did not allow kids prices for the after-hours party
7) Kids are nice, but shouldn't be in bars.

I don't really care if they allow kids. I plan to drop mine off at the club before visiting anyway. And in any case, I'm okay with bars being 21+. Or not. Whatever.
BUT!
Just speaking generally about some of the attitudes on display here: If you want to live in the world and be happy about it, you'll need to accept that you have no choice to share the world with other people -- and sometimes those people will annoy you. Would you so openly support a ban on, say, old people? How about black people? Lesbians? Fat people?
That said, I'd support a ban on adults who can't hold their liquor.

If people want to have children, they need to accept that there are some places it is inappropriate to bring them. You are comparing apples to oranges. It's like people who bring young kids into inappropriate movies for their age. It's not (completely) about whether the kids annoy the other patrons. It's about *some* parents having the attitude that "they are my kids I can do what I want with them and bring them wherever I want and screw everybody else in the world". That, to me, is way more offensive than adults being bothered by the presence of children IN A BAR.
