Trader Sams- 21 and over?

. . . Just speaking generally about some of the attitudes on display here: If you want to live in the world and be happy about it . . .

1) I think the opinions here, for and/or against kids at bars, are being misunderstood.
2) I don't read anywhere that people do not want kids at bars.
3) Many of us just think there are a few places that adults should be able to enjoy by themselves.
4) Not everywhere, just somewhere(s).

NOTE: I have two daughters. When they were young we used to take them into "bars/lunges" at WDW and they enjoyed them, especially at POFQ and PO (Dixie Landings). I see nothing wrong or inappropriate for kids and WDW bars. However, it is nice to be in a drinking establishment once in a while with just other adults. Yes, WDW is a FAMILY location, and we accept that kids will be "almost" everywhere. But, "almost" should be the operative word (IMHO). Sometimes, adults just need to be around other adults - and other than at work. Again, not everywhere, but in few places.

Just speaking generally about some of the attitudes on display here: If you want to live in the world and be happy about it, you'll need to accept that you have no choice to share the world with other people -- and sometimes those people will annoy you. Would you so openly support a ban on, say, old people? How about black people? Lesbians? Fat people?

Exactly, because believing that there are some places that kids should not go at some times is the same thing as racism and homophobia. It's the worst tragedy since no dogs were allowed inside the hospital in the classic documentary Snoopy Come Home.

Disney is a place for families, in my opinion. It is also my opinion that this no more of a bar setting than any of the other lounges offered at disney. My family enjoys grabbing a drink and desert/snack after dinner (I'm not really into boozing at 4pm).
Disney isn't a place just for families. Some of us have raised our families, still love Disney and welcome a few places where we can go and enjoy ourselves without kids around. I personally would love it if Disney would have at least one meal once a week without characters at places like CRT, CP and Akershus. We really miss those places...

The Anaheim Trader Sam's menu has leven food/snack items. It lists the same number of beers, more specialty drinks, and more wines - and that's not even taking into consideration all the "standard" drinks.

Sounds like a bar to me. Keeping minors out after a certain time makes absolute sense.

Been to Trader Sam's in Calif. My kids loved the patio. They don't need to be inside ('cept to use the bathroom) until they're 21. Gives 'em something to look forward to... :joker:

I don't really care if they allow kids. I plan to drop mine off at the club before visiting anyway. And in any case, I'm okay with bars being 21+. Or not. Whatever.
BUT!

That said, I'd support a ban on adults who can't hold their liquor.
Were you wagging your finger when you wrote this? That's quite a leap from believing children shouldn't be in bars to discrimination based on race, age, sexuality etc. Sheesh!

NIce. But it wasn't the idea of anybody here. It was DISNEY's idea. And it's the same thing they do at Disneyland. If you would prefer that people of all ages should be permitted in this bar at any time it is open for business, then write to Disney. And no it is not the same as discrimination based on race or sexual preference. There is no protected class that covers persons under legal drinking age in a bar.

You are not comparing like things and you know it. If we were excluding any of these who were of legal drinking age then you have a point. Until then your argument does not have merit unless you also think it's wrong to exclude 10 year olds from having a beer

1) Huh ?!?!?!?!
2) Since when is "no children allowed" the same as racism and homophobia?
3) So, not letting kids into an "R" rated movie or an "X" rated movie is discrimination?
4) I think some definitions are a little mixed.
5) And, "no dogs allowed inside a hospital" within a cartoon is a tragedy?
. . . but, wasn't the sign, "No Dogs or Birds Allowed"?
6) So, is "Snoopy Come Home" a documentary( Wow ! )

I think I should have used a sarcasm smiley.

You're not really equating adults being opposed to children in adult-oriented drinking establishments as being the same as racial/sexual orientation discrimination, are you?

You're one of my favorite people on this entire site, but you dropped the ball on the blatant sarcasm there :scared:
