Trader Joe's...have you been to one?

The only thing I used to like there was the 2 buck chuck but the last 2 bottles I bought didn't taste good to me anymore.
I can't stand the rest of their food. I am very very picky. For instance I like lasagna, Stouffers Lasagna. I don't like any other kind, homemade, restaurant, different brand etc.
I am an odd duck I know.

Thanks everyone, now I have to go tomorrow..I think I'll just print this thread..;)

BTW Their frozen jumbo schrimp is delicious and the best price anywhere!

That and the desserts are my favorites!

I personally don't get the attraction of Trader Joe's. Maybe if ours was a little closer or sold wine, or the parking situation wasn't such a nightmare....but as it stands now definitely not worth the effort.

Yours doesn't carry wine? Ours had a lot of interesting wine, even real Marsala wine. I was so excited because where we live we can only get cooking Marsala or have to special order it at horrible prices.

Their grits are awesome!

My one big beef with them is that they don't allow you to buy anything online. The nearest one to us is about 75 - 90 minutes away. My husband bought some of their Oatmeal Honey soap and LOVES it. He has sensitive skin and this is the best soap he has ever tried. Sadly we only bought the 2 pack not knowing how much he would love it. He just opened the second bar so we have got to get back soon.

When we went I was shocked that our total bill was only $40 for all I had bought. They have some awesome produce. Their meats were a little expensive for me but other stuff made up for it.

Dorothy!! :yay:

I am SO psyched reading everyone's suggestions! Can't wait to go.

In RI, no supermarkets are allowed to sell alcohol. That's one of the reasons we like Florida supermarkets so much. :)

I love Trader Joe's, but it has become a little chaotic for me since my little guy discovered that they have kid sized shopping carts!!:upsidedow
He throws hand fulls of stuff in there, other shoppers find it very entertaining.
He just turned two & he yells, "Thank you mama!" every time he puts something in his little cart!
My must haves are,
The corn salsa!
The guacamole
Joe Joe's (vanilla bean cookies)
Frozen blueberries (organic Maine)
Frozen shelled Edamame
Assorted sliced cheese (in one package)
Olive tapenade
Pizzas
Fresh baked goods (tarts)
Grilled chicken slices
Granola
Trail mix
Now I have to go, I was trying to hold off going until right before thanksgiving, but this thread might have changed that!:goodvibes

Psssst...the Peppermint Joe Joes are back. After they are gone....the sell for triple the price on Ebay.

The ginger bread mix is back too.;)

The feta/carmelized onion appetizers are a huge hit at every party. I try to replicate them, but cannot.

I bought three of them today! I had never heard of them before..At $1.99 what a bargain! and delicious!

Also the tomato, red roasted pepper soup and Indian sauces. I made chicken korma tonight and it was great, if I must say so myself...;)

They had the feta/onion appetizers but at $4.99 I would have eaten the whole box...

A trader joe's just opened about an hour from here and I'm always reading about them on here. I'm dying to go see the store. It's sad when my fun comes from a new grocery store.

The news was showing the waits to check out were over an hour though. I can't imagine waiting that long.

No way! I'm getting REALLY antsy for the new Wegman's grocery to open near me! The first time I visited one I was there for about 4 hours! :rotfl:

I never thought I could LOVE a grocery store, but Wegman's........

I have no idea what that is either but after reading about umm Wa Was(is that the gas station) I'm anxious to see one of those in the next move. Apprently I need to see a Wegman's also.

Other stores I really need to see include the above stores, an Ikea, the Container Store, and something else I read about on here that I can't remember.

I hear that happens sometimes when they first open up. Kinda like when we first got Krispy Kreme here in Washington. The week they opened the first store there were traffic backups for blocks. :lmao:

We travel to go to the Trader Joe's on the northeast side of Indianapolis, and we live just south of the city. I think it certainly must be that there are different things available in different cities. I love Trader Joe's because it has unusual items that are hard to find on our end of town at a reasonable price. We have Marsh here, and it is expensive for the same items, and we have Target, which has a limited selection and high prices. And, then there is Meijer, which has good basic groceries for a reasonable price, and Kroger and O'Malia's, which disappoint me with their prices and selection. So, whenever we want to take the time to drive to the northside, we buy 2 large Trader Joe sacks of goodies to last for the two months or so between visits. Because of the distance, we don't buy items that need to stay frozen, or fresh meats or fish.

We have 5 WaWa's within a few miles of me... just fancy convenience stores, and some have gasoline sales... no big deal... but they do have GREAT coffee.

Wegman's is like a supermarket that is bigger - I think - than a Home Depot or Walmart... just immense in size. They have ROOMS inside for certain types of foods. And they have an AWESOME food court that you need to see to believe.

If you can't find it at Wegman's you don't need it, or it doesn't exist.

I swear, the one I visited has about 300+ types of cheese! They have amazing coffee and tea areas. The sell buffalo meat... I think alligator meat.... and who knows what else. They sell fruit that I have never seen or heard of before.

Let the novelty wear off and then go!!

WaWa isn't just a gas station. It a well run convenience store that sells very good coffee and hoagies.

Some WaWa's have gas stations and some don't.

Wegman's is really good. I'm not sure where you are going but the Wegman's in NJ is wonderful.

HEY! that one is one of the best I have found yet in my travels around America!!

I just stopped there tonight because I heard them advertising turkey gravy (I'm not good at making gravy so it will be a back up). While there, I also picked up a bottle of 3-buck Chuck (white zinfandel), some sunflower seeds, pineapple salsa (this is the best) and a box of pita crackers with sea salt. The crackers are a new product and they were handing out samples. They're so good I hate 1/4 of the box on the way home.

My DD loves their chocolate covered coffee beans and they're much cheaper than Starbucks!

We have a WaWa in our high school!! It's run by the students. How cool is that?

And it's been my experience that the WaWas that sell gas are usually cheaper, by a few cents, than any of the other gas stations in the area.
