I'm asking here, since it appears the rent/trade board is for specifically that and not a forum to ask. We own at AKV with and want to plan a vaca at HH. We are looking for May 2011 but want to go with the biggie, the three bedroom grand villa. I've been told that unless we get it at 11 months out, not a great chance we will get one. How would I list that I'd like to 'trade' AKV points for HH points? Any clue how that would work? Is that something that can be done?

Sure, you can offer that. Post a Trade Wanted post, stating what accommodations, and dates you would like at HHI. Offer to make a reservation for the other owner at AKV during your 11 month priority window. Any point differences between the reservations could be worked out between you for cash, or a longer reservation, or what ever.

it can be done theoretically but not easily. it's extremely rare to trade points like that.

probably easier to rent your points and use the money to rent from an HH owner (or else have them transfer the HH pts to your account).

Thanks for the quick responses. I really wasn't sure how all this would work. Having not rented points or ever thought about renting ours out (we've only owned for 1.5 years) I just wasn't sure.

If you're looking at 6 days or more you might also consider a private trade the Marriott's Ocean Front Surfwatch resort which is the only Marriott resort on HH with 3 BR units (except 1 unit at Monarch).
