I am thinking about buying one for my parents. On another thread someone mentioned this "one rate" thing and when I was looking at the website one of the phone desicriptions said:

Nokia 2126 Phone
Single Rate for every call: local, long distance, and roaming

What is the rate? The website still says one credit for local, two credits for roaming.

dont get a tracfone- i had one for a few months and hated it. i bought 200 minutes for a WDW trip- with the double for roaming and it rounds up i didnt have nearly enough minutes for the week- i ran out about day 4.

We have trac fones for our kids as our cell phone company wants to ?#?# us to add them. I watch for specials and get email special codes from them and try to add minutes with the special/bonus codes. They have also added the ability to extend the month or minutes for $5 when you add minutes so that has been working for us. We also use them for WDW. You can change your home location so the minutes aren't roaming.

That's what I am wondering about -- with this new "one rate" do they charge roaming? There is NO information on their website and I called their 1-800 number but I can't figure out a way to talk to anyone about it.

I just called Tracfone about this very thing and they said it's the same cards you buy for the other phones. One unit = one minute. My understanding is that it goes with one particular phone as I did not see the "one rate" option with any other phone but the one.

I just went out driving with my Tracfone to see exactly where the coverage is around us and if it would be worth it for my DS.I think it is, and I do love my Tracfone. I have never had any trouble with it and I don't really expect premium coverage because, let's face it...I live in the middle of nowhere. No phone is going to work in all the little hilltowns around us.

Thanks for the reply! My parents live in a rural area too...I thinking of buying this, then bringing it home at Thanksgiving to test it.

do you have a cell plan? what i would do is try an add a line, thats what we do its 10$ extra a month, WAY better a deal than tracfone, i hated mine.

I am pleased with our tracfones.......got one for my husbands truck cause he is so darn stubborn.......he didn't want a cell phone and be committed for $$$$ all the time. This is great for us....minutes not used are rolled into the next time and the next time.....I do the least which is 19.95 for 40 units and that serves us well in case of an emergency.....as I said we love them and they are doing the thing we need most.....IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.......my husband was in the hospital for 8 days and he was able to use them to call out of the regular hospital phone area.......
