How do you go about getting this deal? I have looked all over their website and I can't figure it out. It asks me my zip code and I put that in and it only comes up with one phone. It is a phone I don't want because I would like a flip phone. So I was wondering if I am just not seeing it or if it won't work for my zip code? Thanks!!

On the Tracfone website, look at the right side of the page, toward the bottom. It reads:

PHONE DEALS
See what's on sale in our phone store.

Or enter the ZIP code of the
area where you will be using
your TRACFONE the most.

1) Just enter the zip code you will be USING the phone in. (If you buy this as a gift, put the recipient's zip in).

2) Then press "GO" and it'll open a page showing all of the phones that will work in your zipcode.

Hope this helps! :sunny:

Let me ask you guys something. If someone sends you a referral e-mail and you use it to get your bonus minutes, do you put financial information into the page where the referral e-mail sends you?

I ask this because of the warning we got from WebmasterCricket regarding phishing - gathering financial information by making a website look like something that it is not. Here is his explanation about this when we disallowed the ING referral thread.

WebmasterCricket said:
Public widely used sites (like ING) are prime targets for things like this from offshore scumbags to attack. What they can do is duplicate parts of the ING site like the sign up pages and account information screens under a very similar domain name. Then they start to prey on unsuspecting people like our budget board crowd looking to get into something they believe to be innocent. A new user could be asking what they believe to be another new user for a referral and it can look nearly identical to a real referral email but it's entirely fake. Once you have given the fake ING your bank info, the next ACH transaction day BAM, no money. It's a federal crime, but in most cases, it's too late and the funds are harder to recover than they are worth.

It's a fairly rare case that this happens, but IT DOES HAPPEN

Ebay account scams are the more popular ones right now because they don't involve a bank, but the scumbags are getting smarter and better at doing it so watch out.

NEVER USE LINKS IN EMAILS WHEN MONEY IS INVOLVED. NEVER EVER EVER PERIOD! Always go to the relavant site and navigate through your account to get where you need to go.

So could someone please tell me the information that they collect from you when you use one of these referral e-mails?

Thanks!

Beth,
I can only tell you how it worked for me. I did get a referral e-mail from someone on the Dis and did get the 100 free minutes.
I went to Wal-Mart and bought a $20 Tracfone card and when I got the referral e-mail, I just had to put the code in from the card I bought at Wal-mart. I did not give Tracfone any personal information about any credit card. It worked perfectly for me! :thumbsup2 Does that help?

Good to hear then, Scott. :) Thanks for the information. Although, we generally do not allow people to post things that will benefit them financially, since everyone seems to "win" in this situation, I think we will let it go. As long as we don't see any one person trying to get all of the minutes for themselves I think that it will be all right. Let's remember to share the wealth. :)

:thumbsup2 I agree! Thanks Beth! You ROCK! :cheer2: :teeth:

Quick Rewards is a great "rewards" site that gives you money back when you shop through their links. (You click a store's link on the QuickRewards page).

You also get paid to click on search engines, play trivia, etc.

You can cash out in Paypal cash, Disney Dollars or other gift cards.

Their website is: www.quickrewards.net.

You can also read about them on the DIS Reward Board:
Rewards Board (read the section titled "Reward Program How To's")

I would love to get a referral too from someone! Thanks!! :wave2:

Thinking of getting a tracfone. Can someone explain roaming to me? Their website mentions "2 units for 1 minute of roaming", but the phone descriptions say "local, long distance and roaming included". Is it certain phones that don't charge for roaming and is that permanent? In other words, when the initial minutes run out & I buy a card from Sams Club or Walmart and replenish the phone, do I still have roaming included (1 minute of roaming = 1 unit) or does it use 2 units for 1 minute of roaming?

Sorry if I'm being a little dense here :-)

Debbie

This may be just what my DD is looking for. She is dying to get a cell phone and has some cash saved up. This would be affordable, who knows after I do the numbers this might even replace our Verizon plan.

I have the Motorola V170 and there is no roaming charges with it. My DH has the 60i and he does get charged for roaming. And yes, when you by a new card, there are still no roaming charges. HTH!

One of the things we use ours for is for our DDs. I like having Tracfone for them for 2 reasons:

1) If they lose it (& mine lose things a lot!! :rotfl: ) I'm not out a lot of money ~ since the phone was free.

2) If someone else gets a hold of it (after my DD loses it !) , they can only use up the available minutes, but not run up loads of international calls or something ~ that I would then have the shock of receiving a bill for. It's like a gift card: when the balance is gone, it's gone. I like that for a kid!
