Tracfone LG 800G - anyone have this phone?

However, my husband's Motorola flip Tracfone worked fine.
The Motorola phones from Tracfone are known to be the cream of the crop when it comes to the sound quality and reception quality. Not to say others are bad at all, just that the Motorolas do come out on top.

My LG420G flip phone doesn't have a problem with reception anywhere where normal reception is expected. Obviously in the spots where all phones lose reception on my work commute (rural and very hilly,) I lose it as well. I don't lose it nearly as often or for as long as previous phones I've had from Tracfone. I also get no reception in the house unless I am along my north wall near the windows, but that is a rural situation as well. No one would get reception in other areas of my house.

I've been with tracfone for many years and I love my LG800g. I'd hasten to say it's the best tracfone I've ever owned.

As to Motorola, their phones are usually always the best (DH helped develop the cell phone down here in Florida).

But, having said that, I really do love my LG. I actually gave up a Motorola phone to get it.

:headache:Nothing, absolutely nothing works well on this phone. The touch is terrible for all features, the reception is so bad I can't use it in my house, the alarm set feature sucks the big one and the scrolling feature doesn't work correctly and rolls past what I want or rolls too fast. I wouldn't recommend this phone to my worst enemy and I can't wait to get rid of it when I can afford to.

Ditto x 10! I keep checking the Tracfone site, hoping they've added new phones, but I may end up going back to my old Motorola Razr, which never gave me a single problem.

I got the LG800G for my wife. Iv'e had a Moterola trak fone for years and it's O K except it won't send phone prompts.

She wants me to return the 800 to Amazon.

Since it isn't a fold style if she carries it in her pocket pressure against her thigh can start dialing.

worse it keeps locking even though i set it to "never" lock.

any solutions to stop the lock, if not will go to a flip style and lose the triple mins.

.And what is a CDMA phone and why important

The phone will *always* lock. They do this to keep face contact from interfering with the phone's operation.

I've used Tracfone for 5 years and it's worked great for me. I do, however, hate the LG800g that I've been using for the past two months.

Maybe I expected too much out of it...I though it would be more like using my iPod touch. I've found that navigating within the apps is extremely difficult...the screen is much less responsive than the Apple one.

Another problem I had is that no matter how dark the background, the screen was impossible to see in bright sunlight. I never had this issue with my iPod or even my old Motorola flip phone.

Also, using the QWERTY keyboard has been next to impossible (for me) and I can't tell you the number of times it has 'accidently' opened the browser or redialed a number I just called.

I've also experienced many more dropped calls than I used to have, but I can't say that's specifically related to the phone. What's also weird is that on my recent trip to WDW, it was next to impossible to make/receive calls in Epcot, yet it worked pretty good everywhere else.

On the bright side, the camera took pretty good pictures.

As soon as a I have a moment, I'm going to research the other phones Tracfone offers and get rid of this one. Maybe I can get a dollar for it on Ebay!

My sentiments exactly. I HATE that phone. I tried using it for awhile, and the touch screen was so frustrating to me (it's NOTHING like an iPhone...nothing...granted, much cheaper, but still). Texting was next to impossible for me, as I would have to touch the key multiple times, and it usually brought up the key NEXT to the one I needed. And I have small hands no less! I finally gave it my daughter. She says it's alright, but nothing great.

I've had the LG800 for 8 months and really like it a lot. No problems with messages, texts or reception. Great buy in my opinion. I don't use the web browser so I can't comment on that feature.

PS to this thread...

The LG 840G is now available as a Tracfone, and it's 1000x better than the 800G. A true touch screen, much better keyboard, great camera, no issues with unexpected locking. Plus it has wifi capability, so you can access the internet without using up your minutes. Would recommend it in a heartbeat!

I still have my LG800G but I no longer use it. I switched to HTC and am thrilled with the change. I'm also no longer with tracfone.

I could have wrote the same post! I now have an HTC One V and no longer use my LG800G. I'm no longer with Tracfone.
