Today the birthday celebrations were to start even though it wasn't Rachelle's birthday til Friday she was allowed to wear her birthday button and dress up for breakfast this morning. We had a 10:10 PS for the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway - I hadn't managed to get a ressie at Cindy¡¦s so we decided to try the Epcot version instead. Now last night I had been very careful about rationing the girls' candy from the trick or treating as I know what they are like (stuff themselves silly til they're ill!!) and thought I had managed to keep their sugar intake to a reasonable level. Enroute to Epcot we had to stop the car twice as Rachelle felt ill and when we reached the parking lot she decided to be extremely sick (yuk!) I was all set to take her back to the villa but there was no way she was going to miss out on seeingteh princesses!

We arrived at Epcot around 9:30 and it was empty ¡V we even had our photos taken at the entrance, a first for us and I¡¦m glad we did, the one of the girls turned out really well. First stop was Spaceship Earth, a walk-on. I knew my parents would enjoy Epcot and if this was anything to go by I was right. We walked round to Norway ¡V peeking at Food & Wine Festival carts as we went and arrived at Norway just after 10am. We waited in the courtyard for over half an hour and even at that time of the morning it was really hot there ! They seat people in sections so you have wait til your area of the restaurant is cleared before everyone gets called in. Breakfast was good ¡V pastries, muffins & fruit on the table, coffee and OJ (in souvenir cups for the girls) and a skillet of hot food (bacon, sausage, eggs, potato, waffles) which was topped up as requested. Rachelle didn¡¦t eat a bite ¡V she still felt sick ¡V I only let her have a little diluted juice which she was quite put out about ! The princesses duly did the rounds - Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan and Jasmine (happy Steve and Dad !!) Annabelle was getting really fed up of having her breakfast interrupted to pose for photos lol ! She took it all in her stride though and didn't seem at all overawed by the characters. Verdict - the food is better than Cindy¡¦s and the setting is really nice but there's something special about eating in the Castle. All in all a thumbs up from everyone :D

Back out into the hot sun (temp was 86 today and still not a drop of rain) and round to China. I had promised the girls parasols with their names in Chinese (a bargain at $10 each) and mam bought a large one ($14) for herself as well as she was really feeling the heat today. We found the mask station at the back of the shop and that became the task of the day ¡V really good to have something to keep the kids amused (and Steve too - trying to find the stations in each country ;) ) Saw some beautiful silk PJs but decided it was a bit of a waste of money ¡V they were sooo expensive! We worked our way clockwise around the lake, had a bit of a detour into the Australian wine tasting tent (hic!) - well it was lunchtime by then !! but were too full from breakfast to try any food yet. I got the girls changed out of their princess dresses into Hawaiian Disney princess swimming cossies (a stroke of genius on my part even if I do say so myself. The were a hit with the CMs, kept the girls cool but didn't really look like swimming costumes so they were properly 'dressed'). I hadn¡¦t really explored the World showcase in any depth before and was pleasantly surprised how much there was off the main path whilst collecting tags for the masks at each country. We found Genie hidden in a back room in Morocco, discovered frozen lemonades on the way, listened to character telephone calls (Goofy I think!) in the USA, Steve tried sake in Japan, we stumbled across Belle sat reading a book in France, found Pooh & Eyeore in the shop in the UK and I'd never been up 'into Canada' before.

By this time Annabelle had fallen asleep, mam was wilting in the heat but Rachelle was feeling fine again! So we decided to take our customary afternoon swim at the villa & return in the evening for IllumiNations which unfortunately meant I would have to forego Mission Space which I was really, really looking forward to (NOT!!) It also meant that I would miss out on showing mam & dad the rest of Future World which I'm convinced would have been their favourite park of the holiday. Masks completed we picked up our photos on the way out (not too expensive when we split the cost) and headed 'home'.

The pool at the villa was decidedly cooler than it normally was (it was like bath water when we arrived) but we put that down to the temperature being that much hotter and made the most of cooling down !

The plan was to return to Epcot around 7ish to grab a counter service dinner in the Land, maybe take in one or more attractions and then watch the fireworks - silly me forgot that Future World shut earlier that World Showcase so we ended up staking a spot by Canada (partially obscured by trees unfortunately) & paying a fortune for nibbles from the Festival carts (though mam & Steve did manage to sneak in a large brandy each!). I have to admit that I did walk around the lake and get a teriyaki combo from Japan - it was a long walk but worth it !! Rachelle, true to form, slept through the fireworks and Annabelle befriended a couple from Cincinatti who shared their bench with us so we ended up having a very pleasant evening out.
