Once we were all checked in it was time to see our room. I had put in a few requests... near the lobby & near transportation were our biggest requests due to dad's age. He's in great shape but he's been having problems with his knees lately so this trip was a little scary for him. I also requested that we be near the Timon elevators. I had a done a bunch of research and these were the closest to the transportation.
We started walking towards our room. It was located on the other side (not by the transportation). We literally walked for about 7 minutes before we reached our room. I kept thinking we were on the wrong floor or something because it was taking so long. The minute we walked in the room, I was not a happy camper. There is no way we could deal with the room being that far away from the lobby. After long days at the park, I knew this walk would be terrible.
I got on the phone and called the lobby and requested that we be moved. They said that they would check if there was anything else available and call me if there was. They took my cell phone number. We decided to go to the parks... we were already behind schedule. We left our stuff in that room and started the long journey back to the lobby and to the buses. We got off the elevator right next to the lobby and my phone rang. They had found another room for us. We would need to be escorted BACK to the old room to get our stuff. I was told that my magic band would not work because they had already transferred the info to the new room. I told everyone to just take a seat in the lobby and I would take care of getting our stuff (we only had a few sweatshirts & purses in the room). I was told to go up to the room and bell services would be up there to help me with everything.
On my way back up to the room I came across bell services at another room. The man barely spoke English. I asked if he was the one that was coming to my room to help and he didn't know... so I just continued onto the room. To my surprise, I was able to get in with my Magic Band. I grabbed all of our stuff and started hauling butt towards the lobby when I ran into the bell service guy... I told him no need to help and kept going.. lol.
Once I reached the lobby we took the elevator to the right and we were one floor up, 2 doors down. It was PERFECT!
Here are some pictures from the hallway walking and room...
By this point, I had my workout for the day. I needed to change into some shorts before we headed to the park.
My dad and sister kept saying how I didn't have to call and change our room but by the 2nd & 3rd days of going to the parks, they thanked me over and over for speaking up. I'm sure glad I did too.
We were finally on our way! Hollywood Studios, here we come! By now it was 4:30pm.
When we stepped off the buses, we enjoyed the view for a bit...
My dad did not want to wear a belt (due to flying and having to take it off during security).. so he wore these pants that he bought right before we left. By this point, he was having issues keeping them up. We tried to do a make shift belt and poke another hole into the pants so he could make them tighter but no luck so he ended up walking around holding them up for the majority of the night.. lol.
This is my favorite tree in all of Disney. It's just beautiful! We entered the park (MB's worked flawlessly!) and made our way towards Fantasmic.
We got our first picture taken in front of Tower of Terror. The CM was very talkative (a bit too much.. I was in a hurry! lol...)
After she took this picture, she told me to get out of the picture... she wanted one with JUST grandma & grandpa. Haha!!! She thought my sister was married to my dad! Okay, this is NOT the only time on this trip that this mistake would be made. Luckily, my sister is not easily offended. She just laughed. I seriously think it was more of a compliment for my dad than an insult to my sister. He does not look like he's 76.
We were starving. I had originally planned to buy something in the airport but prices kept me from doing that. We had a ton of snack credits (70 to be exact) to use up so we bought some food once we entered the amphitheater.
We sat to the left since all the middle seats are now reserved for dining packages.
DS had been planning on making his own light saber in DTD... then he saw the Mickey light up ones for sale at Fantasmic and just HAD TO HAVE ONE.
DD got a pair of Glow with the Show ears..
The show was about to begin...
My dad got a kick out of how that place filled up so quickly. The stupid preshow began. I'm sorry but I can't stand those guys that go around playing “Finish that Song”... I'd rather they don't do a preshow and just let everyone do the wave like they used to. That was so much more fun.
The show was great as usual. Everyone really enjoyed it.
Afterwards we waited about 10 minutes until it was pretty cleared out and then we made our way out.
It was now time to EAT! Finally! Time to introduce dad to some Disney FOOD!!!
