TR: Moving to WDW and Earning your Ears! (This is Goodbye) 9/19

Now for the TR update since you've read the other 2!!!

SATURDAY AUG 7TH

In the last post you read that we were on the road and made it to East Atlanta and were staying with my Aunt!

I set my alarm for 8am and jumped right out of bed. I had trouble getting to sleep that night so I didn't get much sleep at all. I thought I might sleep in the car, but that never happens!
I got up and showered and by the time I was done, Dbro was up! We both got ready, my aunt made us breakfast even though she doesn't cook, and we were out the door by 9:10am. We were 10 mins late but not bad!

We decided to put in the GPS, some Famous Footwear locations so that Dbro could get his dress shoes! Of course we had no idea the areas so we ended up turning it off! We stopped for gas before we hit the main roads and even with a wrong turn we were still on track!

After 30mins or so we were in Atlanta!

Olympic Torch and Turner Field:

We drove and drove and drove and watched the miles go down as we drove from GA into FL. Finally we made it to FL!

Of course we stopped at the rest stop and I FINALLY got my free cup of OJ! Dbro got OJ too but wished he got the grapefruit:

It was well after lunch time by then and we needed gas too so we stopped at the next exit only to find a small gas station and a MCD's. Dbro hates MCDs so we got gas and it was my turn to drive..first time all trip
We stopped at the next exit and ate some sandwiches at Arbys. We knew we'd have a big dinner ahead of us at Yachtsman so we limited what we ate!

We drove near UF and I saw out of the corner of my eye, A FAMOUS FOOTWEAR! We went 6 miles down, turned around, went 6 miles back and spent a 1/2 hour in FF. Dbro walked out with new dress shoes and Birkenstock sandals.

We FINALLY reached the Orlando area around 3:30pm. Our next debate was:
#1 Drive on the FL turnpike and pay the tolls = shorter drive
#2 Stay on 75 but go out of our way

We went for choice #1 and ended up paying less than $5 so it was a good choice and since Dbro already had my Sunpass we didn't have to have cash!

We were getting low on gas and knew there was a Hess near YC but drove near the Walmart (right off property) and got gas there. It gave me a chance to show Dbro some of the surrounding area.

By 5pm we FINALLY pulled into YC! We got our parking pass and were told to pull up to the front or park. We parked since we didn't have a ton of bags. I walked ahead of Dbro and into the lobby...

I was greeted by a CM standing in the doorway. She asked my last name (as if she knew it was us?) and said...

CONGRATS, YOU'VE BEEN SELECTED FOR A COMPLIMENTARY UPGRADE TO OUR CONCIERGE LEVEL FOR YOUR STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could not believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stood there and waited for Dbro and she took us into the elevator with her magical yellow room key and up we went to the 5th floor!

Doing a CP is an amazing experience. I know of people who did it 5 or more times! I can't imagine being out of college for that long and coming and going but it is pretty amazing!

Ugh, I am so sorry to hear about your Praxis. What is all on your test? I wonder how different they are in each state, if they're different at all. The first one I took was just Reading, Writing, and Math and the second one was pretty much just like the ACT with math, reading, language arts, and social studies.

Cool your brother is at TT! Hopefully he passed his assessment.

i am jealous of both you and your bro. i applied to the CP twice and got denied both times. i had a friend that worked at the emporium for a summer and i went to visit her while she was there.

Art/gym/music
..my score is the worst on reading/lang arts..all the others I will miss between a point and 4 points per test. I'm pretty consistent in lang arts/reading and miss 12+ points

ROOM 5198

HAPPY FRIDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

I hope your week went great! I survived my first week teaching alone and it went very well! We ended Friday with a "Fun Friday" and a Disney World theme! I will post some of my pics on my Oct PTR since I don't have much to update about but it included some WDW books including Disney Bear's Day at MK, looking at my WDW photo albums, making Mickey Mouse Rice Crispy Treats (including the stick just like you buy in WDW!), squeezing oranges to make OJ, some color pages, and board games!

Dbro is doing great! He passed his assessment a week ago Sat. He is able to run/work Test Track!! He said it has been raining a lot and he often has wet shoes but told my parents that they don't need to buy him extra shoes because he is working and on his own now and will either buy his own new shoes or suffer with wet ones...lol. He was supposed to do a Backstage Magic tour of Haunted Mansion today but slept in and missed it. He was not very happy with himself!! That's it for now!!


Now for the report!!!!


SAT AUG 7TH CONT:

When we left off, Dbro and I were up on CL checking in with Jonathan (I think?) He was very nice and explained everything to us and overall was just a great CM, you know the kind you wish you run into at WDW or deal with on the phone!!

He told us we were in a King room and we both thought We asked if it had a pull-out and he said he wasn't sure. This was really his only downfall. He works CL level and should know the rooms inside and out or you would think so?? He said if not, a rollaway could be brought in. Dbro and I thanked him and said we would keep him posted. We walked down the long hallway and found:

Room 5198

I put my yellow room key in the door and opened the door to our heaven for the next 4 days...

We pulled back the dark curtains to reveal our view..which to us was still unknown!!!

First we looked this way..

Then this way and behold our view for the next 4 days..

Sure it wasn't a view of Epcot, but it was a great view compared to what we should have had. The funny thing is, when we were there in Dec, our room view (standard) was across from where we were but on the 1st floor. Not sure I would call that a standard view but it was nice for 1 night!

Now for the room goodies!!

That's right, we got a huge amount of soaps, lotion, tooth brushes with tooth paste, mouth wash, shower caps, and aloe!

And in the shower we got more soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner!

We got refills of the shower items daily but not of the sink items..it was still super cool!

After we got settled and unpacked (quickly). We decided to check out the lounge for their evening selection of food before our ADR at Yachtsman Steakhouse! We had decided that the King which was SUPER HUGE would be find for us to share. Upon sitting in the chair and turning Stacey on, we revealed that the chair was actually a twin bed!! Dbro ended up sleeping on that and said it was heaven in a pull-out!

And with that, I will leave you all to droll over the CL room and the goodies and I'll be back tomorrow or Sunday with a YS review and a late night dip at the pool to end the first day at WDW!!
