TPAS2 Alumni and friends thread

Yea, when I think 4th of July Denver is not what comes to mind.
We are going to be having my bday dinner at Maggianos, have any of you ever been? Its a chain, so I may have to give up my Food Snob membership card. But boy it is the best deal in town (town being the city of Boston, LOL). Its family style, about $25 per person (adult) like $ 13 for a child. You choose 2 apps, 2 salads, 2 pasta (some of pasta choices include linguine w/clam sauce, spaghetti & meatballs, eggplant parm. etc., not just ziti w/ sauce and such) 2 entrees (meat dishes like chicken parm., Italian pot roast, brasiole (sp?) etc., and 2 desserts. The best part is you can order as much as you would like and take home what you don't eat. It is great!!!!!
No, I do not own stock........just thought I would share.
Happy Independence day to All!!!!!

Nope, never heard of the place...sounds good though! Where in Boston is it???

It is only a block away from the common, right by the park plaza hotel. Oh the only thing I forgot to add is to do the family style you need four or more in your party. Sorry I almost forgot.

Well that rules us out then, we're only a party of 3! :sad1: :)

Oh that's ok....I can always randomly grab someone off the street if we end up going! :rotfl2:

Oh, you will not have a problem finding someone. With in a block or two there are quite a few, Hmmmmm let me choose my words carefully (my political incorrectness sometimes gets me in trouble) I will go with dwelling challenged individuals. I am sure would love to join you.
My DH is so bad, when we are walking past one and they ask for change, he jumps up and throws his hands in the air and yells "CHANGE IS GOOD".

:rotfl2: Your husband is better than mine when it comes to that kind of situation, mine DH is a correctional officer...he just get's down right nasty with them, embarrasses the crap outta me!

Yup, beginning of September is just around the corner now! :woohoo:

Just back from the Shore. We had a great time although the ocean temp was very cold, even for the Atlantic. I think it was around 62-65 degrees. We watched some fireworks that the neighbors were shooting off on the beach and Point Pleasant had a big show.

We also had a chance to go to Monmouth Park and I won a $142 exacta! It was my big win at the track.

Relaxing on the beach was just wonderful. We built all kinds of sand castles and played football and frisbee.

Now back at work and dragging already.

The water temp was about 65, that's about normal for us! If you thought it was cold on the NJ shore....you need to head up to the coast of Maine!

Not as good as your last trip report but we'll take it! So glad you had a good time.:thumbsup2

My parents used to own a house on Long Sands in York....every year I was the first person in the water on Memorial Day, yeah I was young and dumb..and frostbitten! :lmao: The only time that water becomes bearable is for like 2 weeks in August when a warmer current comes through, otherwise it's iceberg central! :scared:

Even though the water is frigid, if I ever won the lottery...I'd buy a house in York in a heartbeat! My goal was to buy my parents house back, but I noticed last year that whoever owns it now tore it down and turned it into a duplex! :sad2:

Thats too bad, there is nothing uglier IMHO then most new construction, especially in a place like that!:sad2:
BTW, I hope you do win the lotto, then I will have a place to stay up there. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah I wish for that big lottery win weekly, as I buy my tickets! :rotfl2:

My parents sold the house when I was 15 because they got tired of driving up there all the time. It was on Webber Road, and I could look out my bedroom window and see Nubble Light! I remember my dad would go back to the house cook hotdogs and bring them back to us on the beach when I was little..it was only 3 houses down from the beach. I think they sold it for like $21K back in the early 80's..a priest bought it from them! Years later, as I slept in a tent at Camp Eaton up the street from the house, my now ex-husband noticed a for sale sign on it...the guy was asking almost $500K for it and that was only maybe 5 years later! I can only imagine what the last owners paid for it before they tore it down!

My sister went up a couple weeks ago, and drove by it...she said the duplex looks out of place, based on the houses that surround it!

It's so sad to see changes like that, especially when the new building is detracting from the area.

Our local YMCA is being torn down and I drove by it yesterday. I knew they were demolishing it, but I was still pretty sad driving by seeing the rubble of the walls and the empty shell of the pool so visible (was an indoor pool). It was dingy and needed to come down or be renovated, but I started reliving all the swim lessons that my kids had there. No, I didn't cry...my medication is adjusted right now. :rotfl2:

Hey T & B, I'm glad to hear your med's are now working properly! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about watching memories being torn down...my grandfather used to work for Heywood Wakefield Furniture here in Gardner, and my mom has pictures of him working on a bridge that connected two of the plants together that went over one of the main roads in Gardner, the city decided to finally tear down that bridge last year as it was falling apart, my mom and alot of people who used to work there were upset to see it coming down, like my mom said, it was a piece of her dad!
