I bought four DS games when they were Buy One Get One 50% off. On the receipt, it lists the first Lego Rockband $26.83 and then the second one $13.42 (it also took off a few bucks from each because they were giving awa y $10 gift card with a $75 purchase). One of them I gave to my nephew and was told by my SIL that he doesn't want it anymore.

When I go to return it, will I be able to return the one I paid $26.83 so I can get him another game in it's place and pay the difference?

They'll give you back what you paid for that specific game on the receipt I believe. You may be able to just do an exchange without paying the difference. They are very strict about receipts there though so be sure you have one.

When I went they gave me the lower priced value so I believe they will give you the lower priced one for the return value but it also depends upon the friendliness of the customer service rep who's doing your return...

you bought two Lego Rockbands, one being $26 and the other $13? Then yes, you can return the one that was higher priced and put it towards a different game, paying the difference. I work customer service at BRU (same system as TRU) and when the item is scanned to return, the computer will bring up all the matching items and will require the cashier to select one to return. I always select the highest priced one if there is a price difference; hopefully your cashier will do the same.

Thanks everyone. I do have my receipt. It seems that some TRUS have different policies. My SIL was able to return two items without a receipt..I thought they stopped allowing that a long time ago.

I bopught two of the same game. I paid $26 for one and $13 for the second.

they can look up the transaction if you paid by credit or debit card now although that flexibility may vary by store.

Two of the same game? I wouldn't think the customer would get to decide they're returning the full-price one (even if they were different games).

Think about it reasonably: the conditions of the sale required the customer to purchase one item at full price, and then allowed the bonus of 50% off the second item in the category. Why would the store refund the full price? The customer is no longer holding up their end of the bargain - paying full price for one to get another at half price.

If the deal were different - say, buy one get one free - and the purchase rang up showing item A at $26.83 and item B at $0.00, there isn't any way the store would refund the $26.83 and allow the customer to keep item B free, right? So how can it be reasonable to expect them to refund the full-price purchase and allow the customer to keep the half-price purchase?

at BRU/TRU it does refund the full price if that is the item that is being returned. I work at BRU so we often see this for Carter's clothing items, buy one get one free or 50% off. If someone buys two different sets of Carters onesies, one will be full price the other will be 50% off (or free, whatever the sale is) if the customer returns the one that rang up at full price, they get full price back. If they return the one that rang up at 50% off they get what they paid for it back. If it rang up as free, they get nothing back

I know other stores will adjust the price for returns but they don't at TRU/BRU.

I am not looking to keep the $26, just put it towards the new game. What is wrong with that?
