I can't remember from our last trip if there were Japan specific toys in the store or not. My son is currently into Beyblade and there are certain ones that I guess are only sold in Japan and he was wondering if they had them there. If not I guess I'll just have to shop eBay!

I have no idea what Beyblade is so I asked my 13 yo. And he said yes there are some there.

Do you have photos of specifically what you are looking for?

Yes there are MANY Japanese toys and tv show merchandise. Pokemon, Beyblade, Hello Kitty, etc. My kids absolutely loved that store.

There are beyblades but I don't know about Japanese releases. In my experience most of the toys there stick to the American releases unless there is no American equivalent.

For example all the Transformers are American releases, but there are currently no American Gundam toys in production so there are japanese model kits and Robot Tamashii figures (for more than you would pay to import them from Japan yourself). All the Bleach, Naruto, and Final Fantasy figures Ive seen over the years there have been US releases as well.

I think a portion of the Pokemon toys (minifigures) may be Japanese imports but I couldn't swear to it since I don't really pay attention to Pokemon.

A few WDW trips ago there was an area just adjacent to the Mitsukoshi store
that had an exhibit of vintage Japanese toys. Dunno if it's still there, but it's worth a walk-through. None of my party are into Japanese toys but it was pretty interesting.:earsboy:

Took a photo of the dragon one you posted and I will keep an eye out next week when I'm there. I already have anther errand to run in Japan so I will be sure to check. If I see this I will report back.

Thanks, I appreciate that! For now I will tell him he just needs to continue to save ;)

Just there last week and the Beyblade selection is limited and almost everything I have seen at our local Toys r Us. There were some newer releases but all were American versions.

There is an American Drago Beyblade not sure what the difference is other than packaging.

The Pokemon selection is large with many plushes that I have not seen in US stores as well as mini -figures. Unfortunately no Emboar.

We were there last week and the Beyblade section was limited. They only had the small keychain size ones and the box with the stadium and 2 Beyblades that you can get at Target and Wal-Mart. My DS8 was not happy with the selection as he had been saving his money to buy some cool Beyblade stuff at Japan. According to him, the stuff was not cool.

It's changed to Japanese folklore creatures in anime and manga. Still pretty interesting.

Yes, they had these toys and Pokemon. We had 8:00 PM res at Tepan Edo and waited till after dinner to purchase toys but the store had closed. It was only a few minutes after 9:00 PM, so I guess they closed at 9:00 :confused3

Gah! Beyblades!!! I had to ban them from my preschool classroom because the boys that would bring them would flip them in the air and came way too close to hitting other kids in the head :scared1: And they are made of pretty heavy metal material, that would leave us going to the ER with a poor bystander!!!

Sorry I know this was way OT but every time I see or hear Beyblades its like... Gah!!

DH the kaiju junkie says he doesn't recall any. I think I remember a t-shirt or two, but that was it.

Same - some shirts but I don't recall seeing any Godzilla toys there. Shame too, there are some pretty nice Godzilla vinyls they could import and still sell well within the typical souvenir price range. Sometimes I wonder who is buying those Robot Tamashii and Super Robot Chogokin figures for $60; seems like they would mostly appeal to people who are already enthusiasts, and we already have less expensive means of obtaining them easily. Godzilla on the other hand has a lot more mainstream appeal that seems like it would sell better than a Great Mazinger or a Lancelot from Geass....

Thanks so much for the info! We've found them on amazon as well so they're not as much as ebay. I think he will still want to go and look around I'm sure ;)

I asked today and showed the CM the photo on my phone. No luck. They said they hadn't seen on like that.
