Toy Story third track soft opening

OMG yes! We found Disney inflated wait times by about 1/2 every time. We relied on LINES and were never let down. We also submitted wait times on every line we waited on.
I agree with this. The other night I was at DHS, TSMM had a 45 min posted and I waited only 15 min. this was right before fireworks so I'm sure they were trying to scare people away so they could close fast

The MDE times were off by THAT much? This does make you rethink paying the $13...

this isn't always the case but 99% of the time the times posted by Disney are more than what you end up waiting, if only by a couple of minutes. TP app is better because people in line are giving real time reports

Yup. Every time. They try to encourage people to go elsewhere by inflating the times. We found it on every single ride we went on. The membership fee is absolutely worth it.

I never use MDE for accurate wait times. Touring Plans LINES app generally has the accurate times.

My Guess is once the new line opened the whole line started shifting quickly forward. Will need to watch throughout day to see real impact of 3rd track.
Or a few days of data to see exactly what impact, if any, there is

I've been trusting the mde wait times. You just went recently, right? Does the touring plans app really have that many more different and more accurate time??

Yes, MDE wait times are rarely right, in my observation. Both too short and too long. They rely on those red cards and we all know how often those are overlooked and not turned in.
TP relies on both, the data from MDE and users actual wait times. It gives you both so you can compare.

That's great there's another third track opening!! Quick question, wasn't the third track supposed to be a different story, like Andy's bedroom, beneath his bed. I thought I read that.

I believe it is, though the games and the ride portion are the same. It's just the theming of the "Andy's Bedroom" load area does indeed have the
"under the bed" portion. It was pointed out in pictures I saw that it did that like the one in Tokyo. It doesn't seem very important though, jsut a small detail.

I never heard that. Not sure how that would have tied in to the Midway Mania game

Ah, ok. that makes more sense. I was wondering how the game would fit

Yeah...it looks like the ride vehicles pass under the bedding and by the bed post as they enter the ride portion and exit at the other end of the bed, so it's all supposed to take place under the bed. I did not realize the Tokyo version was already like this since I skipped that one. Talk about a LONG line!

In my opinion and experience, the MDE times are a tool Disney uses for crowd manipulation.
They are not to be trusted.

It's easy to spot when they are doing this.. Watch the CM at the standby entrance, if they aren't handing someone the red lanyard every 5-10 minutes that disney uses to update the clock, then the clock isn't changing. I do see near meal times and closer to when the wait equals the time they want to ride to close by this is very true of the couple popular rides.

Math makes my head spin but doesn't a third track only add 33% more capacity to the ride which should drop the wait around same amount? That's not counting how many people are just skipping it now because the wait is too excessive for them...

I honestly don't think this will help much for awhile as I know I don't even bother trying to ride it but if it's suddenly show 20-30 minutes wait, you can count me as someone not normally in the line willing to try it out here and there.

In the park now, TSMMM is down. Rock n roller coaster posted wait 150 minutes. Tower of Terror 50 minutes. Park is busy. I'd trust those times.

It actually adds 50% additional capacity. The original capacity was 100%, 50% on each track, so a third track adds 50%. That is not to say that it has doubled capacity. Doubling capacity would be adding an additional 100% which would be expected to cut wait times in half. Adding 50% more capacity should indeed cut wait times by about one-third. This is the same with the new Soarin' theater.

I hope your head isn't spinning too much. :)
