Toy Story Land Attractions Named, New Details Revealed Including First Virtual Ride Video

Just minutes ago, Disney shared a sneak peek of what’s coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including new details on the land’s attractions set to bring the world of Toy Story to life for guests.

In Toy Story Land, you’ll find yourself shrunk to the size of a toy to explore the world of Andy’s backyard with your favorite Toy Story characters, including Woody and Buzz. There are two new themed attractions being developed for Toy Story Land.

The first – Slinky Dog Dash – will be a family coaster attraction. The attraction features a coaster track that Andy has built all over his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit, but as you know, he has a pretty amazing imagination, so he’s combined it with some of his other toys, according to Imagineer Kathy Mangum. Take a look at a concept video of Slinky Dog Dash that Kathy shared earlier

On Slinky Dog Dash, you will zip, dodge and dash around many turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to his limits.

The second all-new attraction in Toy Story Land will be Alien Swirling Saucers. This attraction is designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first Toy Story film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”

As you rotate around the toy planets and satellites as part of the game, you’ll swirl to the beat of fun “Space Jazz” music developed just for this experience, Mangum said. The music, the lighting, and the sound effects will add to the flurry of your adventure while “The Claw” looms ominously over you.

Also today, Mangum shared an update that beginning Memorial Day weekend, even more guests will be able to experience Toy Story Mania with the addition of a third track.

Those saucer vehicles in the pic look similar to the ride vehicles of Mater's Jamboree at DL. If it's a similar ride, while sort of off the shelf, it's actually a pretty fun ride.

Looking forward to Toy Story land! I like the idea that the whole area is Andys back yard and he built the slinky dog coaster around and through the whole thing. Although my kids aren't so small anymore, a whole-family attraction is much needed in DHS.

I can't tell what the alien ride is like - although "swirling" sounds a lot like "spinning" which is a bummer for those of us with motion sickness

I LOVED Mater's Jamboree! It was so much fun! Had my Mum and I in stitches.

Wonder what kind of thrill level the coaster will be, hopefully its like 7DMT rather than Barnstormer (and also hopefully the cars are a smidgen wider than both)

At first Alien Swirling Saucers sounded like something similar to the teacups with the swirling and spinning, but after taking a better look at the picture it looks like the Scrambler ride some amusement parks used to have when I was growing up! That would be pretty cool, I haven't been on a ride like that in long time!

After watching the video it looks like the new land is going to be farther back on the HS property than thought. You can see the back of the Great Movie Ride from the Slinky Dog, which would imply that this land is going to behind Toy Story Midway mania ????? THoughts....

Since they are taking so much time and so much land, I wish there were more rides or attractions to this new land.
In particular, some theatre-type rides that can hold more guests each time.

Nothing can stop the claw! And as for the backyard area they could just redo the Honey I Shrunk The Kids area

I agree. Glad that we are getting something new, but as with Star Wars, they've shut down a lot and used a lot of space for 2 rides/attractions. Is this 4 rides/attractions between the 2 new lands?

The Slinky Dog sounds the same as what they have in the Paris Toy Story Land but a little bit better, I like the sound of the Alien ride though!

That's precisely where most believed it to be going based on the original concept art.

They've closed two attractions (a ride, a show, and a playground).
