Toy Story Land Attractions Named, New Details Revealed Including First Virtual Ride Video

The second all-new attraction in Toy Story Land will be Alien Swirling Saucers. This attraction is designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first Toy Story film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”
Yup that name is gonna have to change :-)

A third track? Maybe I should take rock n roller coaster fast pass instead. Hmm

hello -- i saw on the dis youtube account that a third trek for the ride Toy Story mania is opening up this memorial weekend (I believe it was memorial weekend). What does that mean exactly? A completely new section of shooting 3D games? i hope less wait times as well.

All it means is the capacity will be 50% greater. The games will be the same. Currently there is a single load area. When your vehicle starts going, it encounters a switch track which will send you down one of 2 tracks through the ride building. The 2 tracks offer the same games along the way. Towards the end of the game you go through a 2nd switch track which merges the 2 tracks back together. Now they'll add a 3rd ride track to that, with I assume its own load/unload area. My guess would be the original 2 tracks will be used for FP+ and the 3rd track will be exclusively for standby.

Thank you for explaining in detail. i take it this will be similar with the Soarin ride, i think they too will have a "third track". It's just sickening to see the wait times at 90 minutes, etc.

Yes. Soarin' is adding a 3rd theater. So when you get towards the end of the queue line they will split the queue up and you will be told to go to one of the 3 theaters instead of the 2 they had previously.

They've closed two attractions (a ride, a show, and a playground).

4 if you count Streets of America as an "attraction" and 5 if you count Osborn Lights. But, yes, not as many losses as I thought. Though still a lot of space for 4 attractions to me.

I think if you look at it as 4 rides and 2 fully immersive lands (plus shops, restaurants, etc of course) it starts to sound like a huge improvement over what it is replacing. I'd love to see a playground added to Toy Story land similar to Honey I Shrunk the Kids though. Doesn't take up too much space, would fit the theme perfectly and it's a great place for families to take a break.

Believe we're looking around the 2019/2020 timeframe
I think they might be fast-tracking Toy Story Land. Josh posted recently that the estimated build time for it is 20 months, which would make it open by the holidays next year

I really hope they get this completed sooner. Our 8yr old is a huge Toy Story fan and will love this land. I just want them to finish it while he is still in love with these movies.

Wish and hope it were sooner, much sooner. Don't they want our money sooner???
My kids would be 14 and 10 by then, and I hope they still Toy Story...

Toy Story Land is rumored to be opening late 2017 (or early 2018).

Disney needs a new thrill ride.. geared towards teens and adults.. That is where universal has them beat.
ITA. It doesn't have to be a wild coaster but maybe something with a bit of an edge that the whole family can enjoy.

Is there a date/year that this will be open?

Really 3+ years? o_O Walt built DISNEYLAND in a year..............please>:(

Wow! Do you know the reason why it is that far out? That seems a bit excessive

The original estimates (by fans I should add) had this opening around the summer of 2018 with Star Wars following in 2019/2020. There were even rumors at one point that Disney was going to try to hold the premier of Toy Story 4 at the land in 2018 to celebrate TSL's debut. That said, if you look at the concept art and info released at D23 in August of last year, it differs a fair amount from the concept art they're putting out now. On the surface, things look unchanged, but if you look at the small details, many have been downsized or removed entirely. The coaster itself saw a number of unique elements removed from its layout. My understanding is that this may in fact be an effort to not only cut the total cost of the project but potentially get it done quicker. Parts of the site have already been cleared on this project (I know ground has already been broken on Star Wars), and I'm hearing they may be aiming to complete the build within 20 months (which is doable, given the "dumbed down" rides), which could put TSL opening by the 2017 holidays. Star Wars would then follow in 2018 or (more likely) 2019.
