We are planning on going to see Toy Story 3 tomorrow and can't decide whether or not to spend the extra money for 3D. For our family, it is a difference of $38. Is it worth it? How much different is it really?

I've decided to see the "regular" version because I'm afraid the 3-D version might make me nauseous as it doesn't take much for that to happen. I think Pixar makes great movies and I really don't need to spend the extra $$$ thinking I may feel sick!

my family and i are planning to see the 2D version tomorrow afternoon. no desire to see the 3D version. just a way to get us to spend more money, IMHO.

We saw the 3D version today and loved it. The 3D add depth to the movie. The adult tickets were $11 and the kids $7.

Your kids are old enough that it would probably be really cool. I haven't seen TS3 in 3D, but we saw the re-released Toy Story and it REALLY wasn't worth it - mostly because our 3 year old's head was too small to keep the glasses on. Why don't they make two sizes of glasses - child and adult? Especially since most of these 3D movies are aimed at kids. Ridiculous.

It is an awesome movie. You will totally enjoy no matter what. If your children really want to see in 3D, can you go on a weekday morning? While there is still an extra charge for the 3D the base ticket price is usually cheaper on weekday mornings. Check around too. One AMC theater here has $5 movies before noon then there is an extra $3 for 3D movies. We went to a different one today because I wanted to see in 3D IMAX ($10 each). However, next week we will go back and see for $5 each. It is awesome either way.

We saw the 2D version today- AMAZING!! I'm sure that 3D would have been neat to see for a few scenes, but overall, IMO, it isn't a must-see in 3D.

Some of you have good prices! For a matinee today, IMAX 3D tix were $16.50/adults and $12.75/kids. The regular 3D tickets were $13.50/adults and $9.75/kids. The 2D version was $7.50/adults and $5.50/kids.

I would skip the 3D.

We went this morning and saw the regular version and loved it. DD's friend came over tonite after going to see the 3D version and said that the 3D totally wasn't worth the extra money.

I just returned from seeing it in 3D. It was a really great movie, but there were not a lot of 3D effects. I would stick with 2D. 3D at my theater was $15.00/Adults, $12.50/Children.

The closest good theater is $8.50 for the 3D matinee. There is another good theater about 20 minutes futher that charges $4.75 for the first regular matinee showing of the day, and they don't offer it in 3D.

Are there any problems with blurriness with the 3D?

I'm tired of seeing everything in 3D. I don't think our theater offered 3D, so I happily saw it in 2D. I think I'd just go with 2D to save money.

So I guess most of you wouldn't spend the extra $$ to see it in IMAX? (just trying to decide about this.)

They do now. Don't know if all theaters will have them in stock, but starting with Toy Story 3D, they are rolling out "kid-size" glasses for those 8 and under. Check 'em out. They should work much better.

I saw it in 3D AND in IMAX last night and it was alright. Was pretty cool when they showed the previews for Tron (the effects were AWESOME!) and Dispicable Me. TS3 it was okay, I would probably have rather seen it in regular vision than 3D.

Seeing it in Imax 3D on Sunday for $9 a head. Looking forward to it.

I saw Avatar in 3D and 2D and the 3D version was MUCH better.

I went today with DD, age 5, and four neighbor kids, ages 6-9. I let them pick between 2D and 3D. Of course, they went with the 3D.

Normally I don't like 3D, but the 3D experience here was very good.

Positives:

* No blurriness.
* No obnoxious effects -- stuff wasn't popping out in your face right and left.
* They DID have kids and adult sized glasses at our theatre. That was a huge plus.
* The kids thought it was cooler than 2D.

This was probably my favorite 3D movie. That said, the movie/story would have been just as good in 2D. This movie doesn't really rely on 3D to make it good. It was just cooler that way for the kids.

We have our tickets for Sunday and we're seeing the 3D IMAX matinee for $12.50 per adult. It wasn't much of a difference in price between the 3D IMAX and the regular 2D, so we decided to pay the difference. I mean, we've been waiting 11 years for this! :rotfl2:

I'm surprised so many don't care for the new 3D. Our family loves it. We pretty much only go to the theatre now when a show is in 3D. Otherwise we'll just catch it on demand.

Saw it in 3D, great movie, but it was not enhanced at all by the 3D. I'll probably see it again and definitely won't do 3D.

I would see it in 3D.

I'm surprised so many don't care for the new 3D.
I was surprise that so many didn't care for HDTV, and before that, for DD5.1 surround sound, and before that, DVDs instead of videotapes, and so on. There are always people who disparage artifacts of progress.

Our family loves it. We pretty much only go to the theatre now when a show is in 3D. Otherwise we'll just catch it on demand.
That's the way our family feels about it as well. And now, we could even wait to see the 3D at home. :)
