I wanted to buy some new toys for DS for our trip. Any that you can recommend that are good for traveling (not too big, no batteries)?

Thank you!

In my experience it doesn't matter what toys you buy for a ten month old, they will end up throwing them down and playing with whatever safe thing you can find in your purse anyway, LOL!

What my kids liked were toys like the Fisher Price Activity keys (I'm not sure if that's what they're called) and plastic mirrors (infant books have these in them alot of times). I'm having trouble thinking of anything else right now.

Sassy toys........and discovery blocks. Sassy is the brand name, I think, and they are very bright, patterned toys with rings, teething bumps and gumming spots, spinning and rattling things.........really great little rattle-like toys that are very entertaining.

Discovery blocks are the little blocks with the see through sides that have animals, vehicles and other things in them...........they're stackable, throwable, and shakeable.........very fun.

My DS really likes looking at photos. They make soft photo books - we have two: one by Sassy (I think) from Target, and the other by Child of Mine from Wal-Mart. Close ups of people's faces are great, as well as pics of our dog! He also just got a soft toy made by Infantino called Puppies Playhouse that he really enjoys and was great on a recent plane trip. Here's a link to it online: Puppies Playhouse

My ds is 10 months and has been playing with his Sassy Rocking Horse since he was 4 months. He get's excited everytime we take it out of our diaper bag. He only plays with it mostly in restaurants and while visiting relatives. It has a suction bottom and can easily stick to a table, a window, fridge, tile floor, etc... We call it our restaurant toy. I can't recommend it enought!! People are always asking us about the toy when we're out - they see how much our son enjoys it and we get a meal in peace!

Not really a toy, but what my daughter likes best when we fly are the snack packs the airline gives out. When I flew alone with her from DC to Las Vegas, she was awake the whole way there and back, and kept herself amused with a pack of peanut butter crackers that Southwest gave out as a snack. She likes anything crinkly, but only real crinkly (I've tried getting crinkly toys and she could care less). So I kept hte peanut butter crackers and they will be accompanying us on our flight to Disney this Friday. Also, I don't care if she throws it on the ground or anything like that since it's just a pack of crackers, not a toy I bought.

As far as real toys goes, right now (she's 9 months) she likes anything musical, including stuffed animals that talk/sing when you squeeze them. The only problem is that she can't sqeeze them herself yet so I have to do it over and over. Not bad on a plane, but a little inconvienent when I'm eating dinner.
