Does anyone have any pictures or info on the toy monorail system that is sold in many of the gift shops and the Disney Store at DTD? Curious about the price and what it includes. Thanks

It's $72.00. I know this b/c my 5 year old DROOLED over it in every shop we went into for the entire week we were there. In the end, we opted for the $16 remote control monorail with no passenger cars, much to his dismay....

It's also sold at every store all over WDW at the parks, resorts and Downtown Disney, so you won't have any problems finding it.

You can usually ship it home for free, too. So far, we've bought the monorail, Spaceship Earth and the Contemporary. Wish we could get some of the older pieces without paying ridiculous eBay prices.

It's a great toy/collectible.

Great as a collectible, not so great as a kids' toy. The pieces break VERY easily. Something to watch out for. It also came with a bunch (6-8, I forget) of teeny tiny characters to ride. My boys still love it, but it takes up a lot of space so they don't get out often.

We bought one this past December to put around our Christmas tree....we have the WDW train set too (had that for a couple of years now) that we will be trading out each year with. The monorail comes with some small figures that can be seated in one of the cars, and you could purchase more little characters at the shops as well. The monorail also lights up and it says the monorail spiel that you hear on the real one (sorry there is no Por Favor Mantengo etc just the English version)....it is very cool and we are very glad that we purchased it

I am thinking about getting the Monorail or train for my Christmas tree. My tree is decorated only with Disney ornaments and the Monorail or train would really "plus" it.

The toy is actually really big. We've done it around our tree before. Just remember, the track is big, and you can't make it small because of the curve.... The set takes up a lot of room. My kids lost 2 of the monorail doors (grrrr) and I want to replace them. I don't care if the stripe is the wrong color, I can always paint it myself to match, does anyone know who I could talk to about buying just a couple of the train doors?

we've had ours set up around our tree for the past four years. love it!

i will say that i glued the side doors on permanently. my kids can still get the characters in and out through the doors on top. but the side doors kept falling off. it was driving me nuts! lol

we've also bought two extra character packs and the contemporary. i'd like to get spaceship earth, but have limited space right now. we hope to be in a bigger home in the next year. that would help!

oooh, can you give me more info on this??? we tried to ship some toys home from POP's gift shop 2 trips ago and it was a fortune.

The big display at the shops had a sign that said "Free Shipping". We drive, so we didn't need to ship anything home. Sorry I don't know any more about it.

Well, you're already late!!! They've discontinued so many of the cool playsets - Train Station, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Astro Orbiter.

We've got the Sears Main Street Playset from about 20 years ago, so we're setting up a platform with that as the focal point. We're going to run a train around that, then set up the monorail going through the Contemporary, then over to Spaceship Earth. We're hoping to do a backdrop for the corner where the castle will be that has photos of the rest of MK.

We're not sticking to only Disney stuff, so we're hoping to make it more fun, rather than too expensive!

Have you checked disneystore.com? I've looked at the monorail play set on that site. I believe this is considered theme park merchandise and unfortunately the Disney Visa discount is not valid on theme park merchandise bought through the web site, although it will get you a discount when buying it on site.
