Towncar vs. Rental Car

I really have a two part question. Both have been discussed, but I got tired of looking thru the forums.

We have always used a towncar service for our trips to DW. We always have used the grocery stop for our trips. I read here somewhere that someone rented a car from MCO airport, did their shopping errands, and then dropped their car off I think they said at the Dolphin?? On there last day, they just picked up the car at the Dolphon and drove back to the airport.

Can some give me the details on how this worked out them? My husband would not mind doing this if it saved us a few bucks. We belong to all kinds of rental programs and can get good discounts.

My other question is if we decided to rent the car for the week, is their a charge to park the car at the resort? We will be staying at the Pop Century.

Thanks for you help and have a nice day.

I just started a new thread asking the same Q. I should of read your thread first.
This was my question:

Hi everyone!
I have been pondering the following:
We will be arriving mco on 11/28/03 and depart on 12/06/03
The 1st night we will be staying off site @ HIFS.
The next day we will be going home to BWV for the rest of our stay.
As of right know there are no codes or specials for this time (at least that I can find).
I was thinking I could rent a car for one day from National, do HDDR that 1st night. Do a grocery run and disney outlet the next morning, check into BWV and return the car to the Dolphin. Than do the same the night before we fly out. I really hate to rent a car for the week and have it sit there when we have no desire to do anything else off property.
BTY, the cost would be 51.23 x 2 = 102.46 vs. 8 day rental @ 186.00. The 2 one way rentals would be about 20.00 more than a town car but I can chose my stops and the time frame.

I went into national.com to get the above rates. Compared to a 8 day rental and or a towncar, this seems to be the best option for us.

Let me know how things work out for you.

Let's hope someone can help us. Make sure you check Mousesavers for discount codes on the rentals. I would also do internet searches for rental car discount codes.

You never know what you might find. Isn't it fun to plan?:D

This sounds like a pretty good idea! We're staying at BC... couldn't I just return the car the following morning?
