Town of Celebration -- Disney is Selling!

I got a real nice tour of Celebration back last month while at WDW. Teri, who used to post here on the DIS (miss ya, teri), picked me up at AK for a lunch break over at the town, along with a short tour of the town. She and her family moved there last year and do like it, though she said it has its problems, like any other town. And she did point out that Disney was in the process of stepping back and divesting itself from involvement. It is unique.

I took a tour of Celebration in 2001. I thought it was lovely-sis thought it looked more like a Stepford town.

Thanks for the info. couldn't read the article though. Had to sign up to read it and wasn't in the mood for that.

I have to agree that it is a lovely town, although a little "Stepford-ish". I did enjoy walking around, and the time we were there, they had several of the different styles of homes available "open" so we were able to wander through and get a feel for each different style.

I think it's rather sad. When Celebration first opened, there was such fanfare. It's a pretty little town (although yes, a bit Stepfordish) and I'm sorry it's losing it's Disney connection.:(
