I’m coming to Disney world next week, so I’ve been stalking the waiting times. I’ve seen that the wait times for tower of terror are consistently over an hour. I was wondering if anyone knew if both elevators were working, or if only one was. I’m trying to plan my genie plus strategy lol

Not sure of dates but I recently read they finished working on one side and are now (or soon) working on the other. I really hoped they had done both in all this time

Thanks for the replies! I remember last year they were down to one in the waits were frequently over two hours. They were doing so much better when both elevators were up and working, so I was afraid they were back to one again…. Lots of fiddle-faddling to get a LL again

we rode about 3 weeks ago and it was the far elevators running. The path to the near ones was roped off. Back in October the closer ones were running so my guess is they are now working on those.

Quick ToT question. After the preshow room, is there a long line to wait in in the boiler room area? Do they pack that area or keep it clearer?

I guess I’m really wondering how long the LL wait is from the time you get in line to the time you are in the elevator?

it's usually 75% full in the boiler room. Not too packed. LL depends on how many people are using it at the time you are. We waited about 15 minutes twice during the holiday crowds.

When I went in early December, yes, only the elevator to the left was working. I was staying on-site, so I decided to rope drop ToT with early entry. I'm surprised that they still don't have the other elevator back in service by now. It is one of my favorite rides at DHS, but it is too bad that the standby line is so long with only one elevator working.

Echo reopened late June 2022 and Foxtrot closed early-mid November 2022.
But didn't they start work on them way before that? ETA, a quick search shows threads re: ToT construction back in 2019.
They've been running reduced elevators for way longer than last year.
I don't know what all has gone on but for ages there were 2 pair completely blocked off, as in you couldn't even see them. They did that work in pairs but for whatever reason all 4 really never reopened together. Whatever happened caused them to go back and work on pairs of them again and again.

We rode on Tuesday last week and 2 elevators were open, the left 2 as you look at them.

When we were there in October, only 1 side was running. Maybe it was just that day? I think they intentionally were not loading the pre-show rooms very full because of that.

TOT should be the first or second ride you book with genie+. Ideally first. SDD tends to run out faster but I’ve discovered they release more LL for it every day at exactly 3:47 (maybe there’s a specific time for TOT as well but I haven’t figured it out yet) so you could plan on booking TOT first and SDD later

We made 5 trips last year and it seemed like every trip they were only running one side. Maybe it was bad timing on our part..... Gone are the days when I would RD ToT and ride it multiple times with little wait.

I don't think it was just that day. I don't think all 4 elevators have been running constantly for a couple of years now. I think there was a very brief period after the refurb from 2019 that they did but something must have happened because they went back down to half capacity within a few months. I know everything gets refurbed yearly to some degree but I can't think of another ride where they were this extensive (aka lengthy) that close together.

The 2019 project was separate. Both sides were running in late summer/early fall of last year but it is common for one side to break down temporarily when not under refurb. It’s happened when I was about to get on and we were walked to the other side.

I venture to guess that everyone here realizes rides can breakdown suddenly. That's not what is going on with ToT right now. These are not sides breaking down on rare instances
My point is the time of which both sides were running since 2019 refurb (not counting the park closure) is minimal.
Going back to when we started going every few months in 2011 to the 2019 work, all 4 sides ran most days, short of a temp breakdown
Something is up that is out of the ordinary for them to have to have worked on some part of the 4 elevators since 2019, short of a very brief time when they all operated last fall
