Tower of Terror - When Will It Be 100% Capacity?

I've heard people say one of the shafts is under repair. Has anyone heard when it will be back up to full capacity?

I read a recent article that states that the entire ride may close for electrical repair. I hope that's not the case. I'd rather wait to experience it.

Not for a while. They are changing the ride controls and it is going down one side at a time. So even when the closed side reopens, the other side will close for the upgrade.

There are some well-informed folks on WDW Magic (including people who are former Tower CMs) who are saying it will be months, but it won't have to close completely.

Anyone ride it first thing in the morning recently? We will be there in a couple weeks. Was hoping to ride RNRC and TOT with little waits during ETPE (before moving to TSM and Alien). But if it’s going to be an hour right off the bat then move to RNRC not sure if it’s worth the time or not. Although it is a favorite of ours so I’m not sure.

Hmmm...I swore the other side was down not long ago...like our last trip in Aug.??? or perhaps last March for upgrades as well.

We tried to do this on our trip recently (Friday 2-18). We got to the studios early, a few minutes past 7:30. We were quickly through the tapstiles and headed to ToT… not many people head that way at rope drop!

Unfortunately, the cast members told us ToT wouldn’t be opening for early entry and they weren’t sure how long it would be down.

We instead got in line for RnRC. We were on the first train of the day which was fun. Then we headed to MMRR and rode that. By the time we were finished, ToT was up and running (around 9:05). We quickly headed that way and did standby- posted wait time was already 70 minutes; we waited about 45.

Yes. The main motor that pulls the elevator up and down was past it's life. That was the reason for the crane and scaffolding. The scaffolding actually covered a hole that was cut into the building. The motor was removed and the new one lifted and installed. But completely different maintenance issue.

Anyone know why TOT is only running at half capacity? Are they maybe refurbishing it while keeping some of it open and will be at full capacity soon? Or maybe they’re understaffed? I had noticed on the app that the waits there were insane and after doing it a couple times recently I can see why the line is so long and slow!

A permit for electrical work was posted recently.
