Tower of Terror -- what age?

My son (who had just turned five at the time) absolutely LOVED Tower of Terror - rode it several times. My daughter, who was seven, could not be talked on to the ride under any circumstances.

As other posters have said, this varies per child. Heck, the ride terrifies me, but I still love it. :)

My 5 yo loved the up and down but was totally scared of the intro stuff. She loved Space Mtn and Big Thunder Mtn but freaked at Haunted Mansion and Great Movie Ride (Alien part) even though we talked about them just being robots. My 3 yo wasn't scared of anything that she was tall enough to ride.

When we were there last week, a woman had her little girl right behind us and the poor little thing was almost hysterical by the end of the ride. She was sobbing and crying that she wanted to go home.

It is meant to be a scary ride with a scary premise. If your child can watch horror movies, he/she will have no trouble with it. I think it is too intense for most children.
We do not permit our children to see any scary horror movies and they love, love, love Tower of Terror. It is a bit spooky in the library area, but I would not compare it to a horror movie at all. They have all been old enough to ride ToT since about the age of 4.

But, as the other posters have pointed out, it depends on YOUR child. If your child is typically scared of thrill rides, then no, this is not the ride for them. And no one should "make" a child go on a ride they absolutely don't want to ride.

The OP should start out slowly. Did his child like the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain? If so, then let him try ToT. If he does not enjoy some of the other less intense thrill rides, then maybe they should wait until their next trip to try ToT. Each parent should gage their own children's reactions, not just go by what a bunch of strangers think would be okay.

Youtube has the ride on there with the pre show movie. I let my 5 year watch it and he was oooooooo cool I just can't wait to ride that. :cool1:

During our last trip, our youngest age 4. She is very excited to go on the ride, maybe she is wondering about what waits her. So, we take the ride and all of us are screaming. The kids wants to ride it again in our next trip. I don't know why. :lmao:

To echo what everyone else is saying, it depends on the kid. My 5 year old begged to ride and loooooved it. She's a daredevil though, and not phased by the idea of ghosts at all. She rode it a few times last trip, and can't wait to ride again. My just turned 4 year old wanted no part of it last time, so he didn't ride. We'll see if he changes his mind next time, but I doubt it.

This was my daughter's favorite ride when we were there in 2004. She would have been 5. She was terrified of Dinosaur but loved this one, Test Track and Rockin Rollercoaster. Just my opinion. :)

My youngest rode it when he was 2 1/2 years old very tall for his age Loved it. But my other two was 6 and 7 wanted nothing to do with it. But started riding it at 9 and 10. So i say it depends on the child.
