Tower of Terror w/o the drop?

I don't like roller coaster drops, and the tower of terror was great!

My 9 year old was frightened for the first drop, but, then, he let go of my arm, and just laughed and laughed with each drop. It was not bad at all. Anticipation was MUCH worse than the actual drops.

I can already tell the anticipation is going to kill me! :scared1:
eeek! I don't know if I'll be able to ride it, I still haven't ridden the one here in CA. :rotfl:

sort of like childbirth...

you forget all about the pain & inconvenience as soon as it's over...

Hmmm...I'd have to say that that is the first time that I have every heard TOT compared to childbirth...very creative :thumbsup2

When it comes to the seatbelts...don't tighten them and you'll still get the air under your butt!

... wish that there was a no drop elevator for my mom.
This is my mom's (72 this Thursday....and I'm riding it for her, since she will be at home) favourite ride. Actually, I think that it is my whole family's, except DH, favourite! If you are a candidate for the Tower of Timid, think about these things, and then decide.
  • you are not really being "dropped". You are being pulled down and pushed up.
  • the 5 year old you saw in line a few minutes ago is alreadly off
  • it will be over before you know it
  • and it's DISNEY. Themed fun, nothing to hurt you.

It isn't jerky and I can hardly wait! I think ToT and RnR are two reasons why we'll be visiting Disney Studios almost every day this week.

I didn't want to go on tower of terror because I hate elevators but DD talked me into it and now its one of my favorite rides! Go figure...I still don't take "regular" elevators if I have a choice!

yeah i have a question about the seats.

Isn't anyone worried that with the 'air time' you get, your body would just pop open the seatbelt? because i sure am! I really want to ride it, but im terified that the seat belt will unfasten and then i really will be feeling like i was 'up in the clouds"

someone please put me at ease, and then come with me in october so you can calm me down when im on the ride, and it goes up..........and then goes dddooooowwwwnnnnnn

No, actually. They want you to feel that, but the seatbelts are a lot more stirdy than a regular car seatbelt. First off, they are set to ONLY be able to unlock when the ride is over and unloading. Same with Test Track and Soarin'. You would have to weigh about 1000 lbs. and on an uncommonly fast drop to even splinter the seatbelt.

I liked it better when they had the bar and the seat belt. Now I have to hold onto the bars on the side of the seats.

No drop on the TOT - what would be the point :confused3

I've been on this ride since it started with just one drop (cool) and then when it went to two/three drops (cooler) and now when it randomly selects the number, etc of the drops (coolest).

Everyone in my entire family loves this ride and we never miss it (from my 75 year old Mom - who has always loved rides but is now taking a milder approach with roller coasters that go upside down - to my 7 year old nephew - who rode it when he was 4).

Can't wait for more!!!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

I held onto the lady next to me. :rotfl: My heart was pounding once I sat down and I kept saying "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh". There was nothing really to hold onto and she said to hold onto her. She took my arm and I held on....LOL. I think the actual drop wasn't as bad as the anticipation of it. Once the ride dropped, it kind of tickled my belly and made me laugh on every drop.

If you're on this board ma'am, thanks for lending me your arm.:teeth:

This thread cracks me up !! No offense, but is the Original Poster serious ?????? :rotfl:

What the TOT be without a DROP ????? Pretty boring .... :rolleyes1

I'm totally serious. I love the special effects Disney is capable of pulling off yet I terribly dislike the painful feeling (& it really is painful) I get in my stomach when I ride roller coasters, etc. I didn't always get this feeling ... when I was younger I felt the flip-flops in my stomach but now it's actual pain.

So, I do want to experience the special effects but not the pain. I disagree that taking in all those awesome effects & then getting off would be boring! I think it would be great fun to see what they've accomplished in there PRIOR to the drop.

Avoid this ride like the plague! The preshow isn't really anything great. My DD9 wanted to ride this sooooo bad. So, DH and I and my little DD9 did it. She was terrified and I was mostly scared that she would fall out. I know, no chance in hell, but I felt horrible about her riding this. We tried and tried to talk her out of it. It is all she talked about on the trip down to the World. I was so thankful to be off of this ride and will never go on it again!

I applaud all of you who love it and do it over and over again! You are all much braver than me!

First year chickened out and did the whimp elevator and then the next time I rode it I loved it. The first year I took my sister in law on it, was shortly after they had randomized it and doing it at sunset it kick butt awesome.

That's how I always feel! During the "dark" part before the drop, I always think, "ohhh, I hate this." Then we drop, and I LOVE it! If you can handle one drop, you can handle four. By the time we get off, I'm having a major adrenaline rush.

For those who are afraid, try the floating penny trick. Put a penny on your knee, when you drop the penny will float. We used that to distract our son the first time he rode (at 6), he loved it and had no fear the next time! Our picture has all of us staring at my knee though!

So one cent is your PEN-KNEE.

When it floats above your leg, then its your HIGH-KNEE.

And when the ride is over, everyone is WHY-KNEE.

;)

Thank you, thank you.

I'll be here all week.

Don't forget to tip your waitress.
